This is a good blue collar restaurant where you can get a good meal for a reasonable price (about $20 for a 18 oz porterhouse steak with all the trimmings). It is an unfair comparison to include it in a list that contains the likes of Ruth Chris and Flemings where you would expect to pay 3X the price and have the service to match. This is not a place where you are going to find neither an extensive wine list nor one where you would try to close a business deal but I have had an excellent steak in spite of the lack of ambiance.

The steaks are a nice size and comes with salad, baked beans, potato and garlic toast. For those who don't want BBQ they have hamburgers, sandwiches and seafood.
The price runs about $15-$20 for dinner.

Chris & Pitts restaurant has very good barbeque. I highly recommend their barbequed brisket sandwich. They also have a variety of things on the menu for those who don't like barbeque.

I have lived across the street from this place since 1973. I have eaten there three times. The second and third time caused me to wonder why I went back. Each time, the meat was as dry and tasteless as cardboard. I miss Love's. There was one about three miles north, and another one about five miles south. Their meat was always flavorable and juicy. But they are gone and this place remains. Go figger.
Pros: Closed on Mondays.
Cons: Open the rest of the week.

I think that last reveiw was a bit harsh. I have been a customer of this place for about 25 years. Although I do admit the decor does remind you of the 70's, the point of this resturant is not to look pretty, but to serve BBQ food, which it does well! For a well rounded meal, try one of the combonation plates. I always get the beef ribs verses the spare ribs, which in my mind are a bit dry. The food is very basic, but very tasty. I enjoy the BBQ sauce, which is also sold in stores nation wide. I also am fond of the salad dressings, which you can purchase in the resturant. The food is good and the prices are fair. I do recommend this returant if you are looking for good FOOD.
Pros: Inexpensive, not too crowded, Good BBQ food
Cons: old decore, location

Per the recommendations of this forum my wife and I went and tried this place. It's awful. The meat was dry, lacking flavor (we got the spare ribs and the baby-back ribs). The sauces sugary and artificial. The whole joint is a blast out of a better-to-have-forgotten past. At $30 for our meal, I felt cheated. Avoid at all costs.
Cons: Awful food

This place is a deal! You get great food (in quantity) at good prices. I highly recommend the Ground Sirloin Steak, its served on a bed of onions and smothered in mushroom gravy. Try the house "Pepper Recipe" which can be added to just about any piece of meat to put a new twist on the old favorites. Set aside time to take a nap afterwards, most meals are very "heavy" (filling).
This location is pretty busy, but usually isnt much of a wait to get in. The decor is no frills typical southern BBQ restaurant and the service is friendly.
Pros: Inexpensive, Great Food

Although the restaurant is a bit cheesy (burgandy red chairs and carpet with velvet paintings), the service is always prompt and friendly. The bbq spareribs are sweet and tender, I'm sure the best you'll ever try. The steaks are very reasonably priced and very good "gourmet pepper" style (with sauteed onion, bacon and pepper on top).
Pros: Great food, inexpensive
Cons: , old appearance
