Last night was my first time to visit the new restuarant...it is absolutely gorgeous. The ambiance of the new place is so nice, family photos on the walls dating back generations...I love that sort of thing...and it was such a wonderful meal. The soup and tamales with each meal are just delicious! The salsa is some of the best I have had and I eat LOTS of Mexican food! The owner makes sure everyone is well taken care of and greets each person with a warm smile and handshake. I highly recommend the place to anyone wanting a fine dining experience with a wonderful atmosphere and delcious food. Support this family establishment...I can insure you will not be sorry. FYI, we went for dinner...I hear lunch is a lot more crowded...but the food is always good!

When you first arrive at La Familia you are greeted by the owner . He shakes you hand and asks you how your day was. If you have never been to his restaurant before he will give you a free cup of soup and a tamale.
At some point during you meal he will come talk to you again and see how things are going. This is a great restuatant with great service.

well im sorry to hear that other person had a bad experience. any place in dfw around lunch can be busy. the reason places wont seat until your party is there is because they cant waste table space if youre just sitting around. i would be ticked if i walked into a place to get lunch, and most of us dont have more than an hour, and saw ppl sitting around at half full tables waiting on people to arrive. this place is an old fast food joint and there are not many tables! even pei wei does that. if you cant get all your lunch buddies there at once, go for dinner because its great. they dont waste your time- they are fast to get your food out at both dinner and lunch, so be courteous and dont waste thier time and space. every time ive ever been there the owner has been there too, a nice older guy. he greets you with free tamales and chips and bean soup. more if hes never seen you, because he knows his regulars. the prices are cheap, the food is excellent, and the service has always been great for me. ive never had to wait long for anything including to sit down. ask the owner about the tornado, he has a cool story about how it jumped over his building and went across the street.

I had tried it several times, due to the discretion of others, but I must say, I have never had a good experience. If you can stand bad service, the food is pretty good, especially the enchiladas. However, during lunch, they will not see you unless every person in your party is present. Also, they have a surcharge for asking for simple substitutions, without telling you, which they add secretly to the bill. It also took forever to be served, and the waiters did not check up frequently on us, as we needed our water and chips to be refilled. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Great family-owned restaurant. Very good salsa and margaritas. You'll get to know the owner quickly- he likes to make sure that everyone's having a good time. The fajitas are awesome, the guacamole is hand made, and the chips are perfectly crisp. This is a great locally owned business. Supporting locally owned businesses is always important to keep the local economy running strong!
