Good: The restaurant food is in a category all it's own! There's no comparison! Bakery food is outstanding! We are lucky in Ft. Worth to have this gem in our area!. Bad: Calling the restaurant/bakery is frustrating to say the least! Wait time "on hold" is outlandish! The workers have no qualms AT ALL with placing callers on hold for wait times in the 15 minute category. Where I work, (in fact where most people work) a fifteen minute plus wait time simply would not happen without consequences. One would think that in these tough economic times this bakery would consider revising it's telephone call policies. If it hasn't IT SHOULD.. Improvements: Respect for the customer should be priority number one. Aparently, this bakery/restaurant does not worry about loosing any business to unhappy callers waiting on hold. Guess they certainly have more business than they need otherwise they would already have made improvements! This company has been around a LONG time!. Other: Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for Swiss Pastry Shop! Love their menu and their bakery items! (My weight will attestify to that!) Just wish the customer mattered more to them than we do!.

I love Swiss Pastry's desserts. Finally tried their lunch today. I would say their service was horrendous, but it was worse than that . . . it was non-existent! After being ignored for nearly 10 minutes, we ordered 1 chicken salad sandwich, 1 smoked turkey sandwich, 1 bowl of soup and 2 ice teas.
The teas and the soup were brought out fairly fast. However 25 minutes later we were still waiting for our sandwiches. When they finally arrived, I was served turkey salad instead of smoked turkey. I let the waitress know it was wrong, but she tried to tell me that's what I ordered. No, I didn't. I specifically asked for smoked turkey.
She seemed puzzled and walked away. I asked my husband if I was mistaken - did the menu not say "smoked turkey?" He confirmed he'd seen it listed also.
After several minutes, the waitress returned with a menu, pointed to the smoked turkey and said "is this what you want." "Yes," I told her again for what the 4th time? She asked if I wanted cheese, I did not, but asked for lettuce and mayo.
Obviously the waitress did not put the correction for my order at the front of the line, nor did she tell anyone that it was a correction and needed to be taken care of ASAP because after ANOTHER 25 minute wait she finally brought out . . . that's right ANOTHER incorrect order.
Not only did it have cheese on it, when I told her "no, thank you" when she asked if I wanted it, but it had 2 slices, melted. No lettuce, nor the slightest hint of mayo.
We left, it was a horrible experience and I don't intend to return.

Swiss Pastry is an old timey bakery and restuarant. It's a favorite with elderly lawyers, for example, as well as "ladies that lunch." Not real exciting.
But here is the deal with Swiss Pastry: It's all about the black forest cake which is not really a black forest cake at all - no chocolate except for shavings on the top and certainly no cherries to be found.
What it is, is a large rectangular meringue covered and filled with whipped cream. The meringue is sliced horizontally, with about three layers, one on top of the othe, making up the cake. Somehow, the cake is covered sides and tops completely with chocolate shavings (They must blow it on!).
A Black Forest cake will run you about $20, should be made and picked up the day of your event and must be refrigerated. Sometimes the recipe is reprinted in the Star-Telegram. If you search on Google, you should find it.
Now go order one ASAP. It's a Ft. Worth institution!

The Swiss Pastry Shop is a must stop for baked goods. They have the most awesome Black Forrest cake. Every time we have a birthday at work, someone goes and picks up one for the day. Another thing that is really special to me is their baked meringue. You can pick up a bag of them to take home and make a "homemade" dessert for the night.

Swiss Pastry is a restaurant and a bakery. The bakery aspect is superb. The cakes, pies, and other miscellaneous treats are affordable (we're talking $6 for a whole pie) and delicious. I highly recommend their famous Black Forest Cake. The restaurant, however, can't seem to meet the demand of the large influx of customers during the day, because the service is severely lacking.

This is a great place to buy a spectacular cake for a special occasion. My favorite is the Black Forest Cake...a dried meringue concoction with alternate layers of whipped cream & meringue & topped with lots and lots of shaved chocolate plus more chocolate on the sides. My mouth waters just thinking about it.
If you are ever nearby, you must stop in and at least check it out.

This place has the best pie and it's really cheap! Try the coconut creme, it's great. They have decent real food, too, but you come here for the sweets. They don't make donuts, though, so don't even ask. It seems to offend them. You can order a pie or cake ahead of time and pick it up. It makes a great gift and as said before, it's cheap.
