Good Indian food CAN be found in Northern Colorado! Taj Mahal has very good service and is a good, solid Indian dining experience. The buffet, though over-priced for this market, offers a good selection of menu items and is a great way to be introduced to the world of Indian food. Dinners are also priced on the high side, and the portions are on the small side (typical of Indian places in general). But, oh, the food! My hands-down favorite is the Chicken Madras, but I also love anything with spinach, lentils, or chick-peas in it. I have found the cooks to be very accomodative when it comes to making changes, and will even do their best to create off-menu dishes. If you have not tried it, you MUST order naan (bread) with your meal! It is very delicious, although, again, it is WAY overpriced. If you are looking for an occasional splurge while trying something different, Taj Mahal will certainly fit that bill!

My husband and I go here for all our special occasions-- and can spend the entire evening there. The service is incredible, the food delectable, and the ambiance delightful. Their Kormas is amazing! We also like the Vindaloo. They have always gone above and beyond our expectations. They keep our glasses filled to the rim. Once, we had ordered our dinner four-star hot. They didn't think we knew what they meant, so they toned it down. When they came and asked how it was, we said it was "wonderful, but they could have made it hotter." They smiled, and went back to the kitchen. The next thing we knew, they had cooked our ENTIRE meal over again....even though we had already eaten at least half of it. (This time it was four-star hot!!!! It was also excellent). They are definitely worth the hassle of driving to down-town Fort Collins. The trick is to go around 5 pm. You can still usually get a parking spot on Oak street.
