The Flushing Penang was one of the first authentic Malaysian restaurants in NYC. This big no-frills location still caters primarily to first-generation Asians in the neighborhood and consequently the food here is far better than the food at the more stylishly appointed Penang branches in Manhattan. Try the roti canai, the beef rendang or whole fish stewed with okra. A lot of stuff seems not to be on the English menu, so keep an eye out for what your neighbors are eating or ask your waitress what's really good that day (if you like spicy, let them know and they'll pull out all the stops). Really good stuff. One note: Lines can be long on weekends, so get there early.
Pros: Great food
Cons: Sometimes hard to communicate with waitstaff, often long lines on weekends

If you're looking for a good tasty yet cheap price on Malaysian food. This place has more than regular food, they also have desserts and special malaysian drinks. Such as jelly with soy milk. It may sound gross but thats the best drink there! They offer hainan chicken, indo noodles, curry bun and many great tasting food. Their prices are so cheap and the portions are decent. The customer service is excellent and the place is packed during the night time and on weekends. Get there early for great seats if you dont want to share a table!
