This bakery is one of the best through out NYC. This place is jam packed on Sat & Sun. It's nearly impossible to walk out of the door around those 2 days. The pasteries, buns and drinks are fresh. Tai pan also offers not only buns and cakes, they also sell rice, noodles and breakfast too. They throw out unsold items when the clock hit their closing time. They rather throw it out instead of selling it to you. The prices are decent and their stuff are yummy!

If you are ever in chinatown and you have a serious case of the munchies, Tai Pan is the place to be. Tai Pan is a chain bakery that has been around forever so it seems. You wont find doughnuts or any bavarian creme pies here. Tai Pan makes an assortment of chinese style pastries ranging from birthday cakes to miniature fruit tarts to roast pork buns to loaves of bread. Try the coffee or specialty teas or their juice bar. Tai pan can be a good place to read the morning paper while scarfing down a tray full of pastries. Very affordable and opens early.
