West Side is so-so 8/23/2013

I cancelled my membership years ago because they plowed a lot of money into the east side facility and west side was almost literally crumbling, paint peeling and all that. I joined a different club but cancelled when instead of repairing or replacing a nonfunctional hot tub they simply walled it off! I went back to FAC westside and discovered that they had improved things considerably. Fortunately AARP pays my membership (Silver Sneakers) so it costs me nothing - quite a deal so look into this if you have AARP health insurance. But otherwise, yes, they are overpriced and some of the weight machines are very old and don't function optimally. However, free weights are free weights and they don't wear out. What's odd is they added a huge room for exercise machines while weights were left in a room far too small for the membership. They need to convert one of the handball courts to a weight room. Swimming pool is nice but also too small for the population. Members can use either site but eastside is too long a drive, just not practical for me and many others who live west. The eastside facility would be a four or five star if I lived closer but unfortunately westside is my only practical option. more

This is a joke for a gym 8/26/2012

They are very over price for what you get. the work out room is very out dated .they never buy new stuff. the trainers need trainers. What a joke. more

Overpriced 4/26/2006

Sorry the Flagstaff Athletic club is overpriced, people in Flagstaff live on a limited income and this place charges a $250 initiation fee?? puleese plus $500 a year on top of that?? and the equipment is old. I moved up here from Scottsdale and the fitness centers in Scottsdale are alot nicer than this place and charge only half and the people in Scottsdale have a much larger income. The debt to income ratio in Flagstaff is one of the worst in the country. I went there to get a membership and the only thing they wanted to do is see how much money they could squeeze out of me, it was one of the worst experiences i have had in a fitness center. Sorry $250 initiation fees and $500 a year is rediculous and anyone who pays that kind of money to workout there is brainless, and as i went to the other fitness centers they were just as bad, finally i got disgusted and decided these fitness centers in Flagstaff were a bunch of greedy pigs and decided to buy my own eqpt and workout from home. Anyone going to the Flagstaff Athletic club or any of the other overpriced fitness centers here? let them know how you feel about them squeezing you for every dollar you have, and tell them to take there initiation fees and put it where the sun doesn't shine. Signed Disgusted ugh!!! more

This Is a full service Athletic club. It offers an indoor heated pool, outdoor jacuzzi, which can be a little crazy to use in the winter, but they have (at least in the women's locker room) an indoor whirlpool. There is of course the usual sauna and steam room, showers and a nice bonus is the blow dryers available near big mirrors to get yourself ready to go to work or wherever without having to go back home. There is also a great outdoor pool with a slide and "raining" umbrella for the hot summer months. They have many, many classes here every week, from yoga to Pilate's to what ever you might be looking for. There is a cardio room, a weight room, a huge gym and also a huge dome under which is i believe 6 indoor tennis courts for use in the winter. also they are always offering some kind of sign up bonus, donate $25 to the public school system or the cancer society or? and you get 50% off of the initial membership fee. I would definitely recommend this business to anyone looking for a good all around athletic club. They also have great hours, which should be able to accommodate any ones working hours they open around 5 am and close around 11 pm more
