After going to Pattison's for my child's school party, we had such a great time that we've been back several times since. We've gone on Sunday afternoons and have found young kids and parents skating together. My 7 and 5 year old boys have a blast and they're not old enough to be embarrased to skate with their mom!
People use both regular skates and inline skates. It's about half and half. You can bring your own or rent. Some young children bring knee/elbow pads and helmets.
I wish they had more just regular skating and fewer special rounds. We end up sitting out a lot while we wait for the "all girls speed skate" or the "all boys speed skate." It's fun though.

Pattison's is one of the best roller rinks I've visited - fabulous fast floor, absolutely clean throughout, and very professional ownership/management. It's sad to know that a rink of this quality is unable to sustain the dwindling group of American and World Class roller dancers in this area. This rink would be ideal for Invitationals and other local competitions, as well as for a good dance and figure club. Sadly there are not enough of us to make it work for the rink. Thanks Pattison's for hosting the one-time dance skaters "reunion" this month - I'm sorry there weren't more of us to support your kindness.

There aren't very many roller skating rinks around. Pattison's is an institution in Federal Way. The rink is nice, the music is great, and there are plenty of places for the non-skaters to sit. Many elementary schools and church groups hold skate nights at Pattison's. You can choose your music selection [like Christian music] if you want. Pattison's also has birthday rooms for use. People bring in their own food for special events even though Pattison's also has hot food and cold drinks for sale. I've heard the weekend crowd can get pretty dicey, but I've never actually witnessed it. Pattison's also has a champion speed skating team, so if you're child is interested, this is a good place to check it out.
