I have been going to Akasaka since the early '90s and it is still my Japanese restaurant of choice. I have been to Japan over 3 times and Akasaka has one of the closest to Authentic tastes. The donkatsu (pork cutlet) with sauce is very filling and satisfying to the palate. The sushi of any kinds, especially rolls are not filled with junk, but good quality fish and vegetables. If ordering the Korean food, the free appetizers/side dishes are the best of any Korean restaurant statewide. The Japanese appetizers, on the other hand, are not as authentic as hoped for. They are relatively okay, but very pricey. Overall, I would say stop by about 3 times a month and you'll be happy. Pros: Great Udon and sushi Cons: appetizers are expensive

I have been going to AKASAKA since 1989 when my then to be husband took me. They were in their old location then and sushi was brand new to me. Mr. Lee served us a chef's choice sushi and assorted dishes at the bar and it became my favorite restaurant. We, along with many others we've met, are loyal customers and Mr. Lee and his wife Linda have always served us the freshes, expertly prepared sushi (I know since I travel to Asia frequently these days). They are always wonderful hosts, along with their very well trained staff. Though I've wanted to try other dishes, I can't get past the sushi! We've been making the trip from Olympia and most recently from Centralia all these years and have NEVER had a bad meal.

I went here for the first time on my birthday. Me and some of my friends went there this past Saturday. We waited for about 20 minutes just order some drinks and appetizers. Infact, I had to go out and ask that a waitress be sent to our section. Then we waited about another 15 minutes before the drinks even came out to us. The dinner took about 30 minutes or more to come out after the already long wait on the drinks appetizers. One of my friends only order was California Rolls. Her's was the last thing to come of the kitchen. Everyone elses dinners was coming out here and there. Finally almost an hour later, then her California rolls comes out. Thats just way to long of a wait for California Rolls. The food was alright, it definitely was not good enough to make me forget about the LONG wait. I would not recommend going there unless you have a lot of time and don't mind being forgotten. Pros: Variety of Japanese and Korean foods Cons: Very slow service, and the food was average if that.

I have driven by this place a couple of times and curiosity finally won me over. The service - we were seated promptly and our waitress was pleasant and helpful. The people are friendly and willing to assist you questions. The food - the sushi is fresh and delightful. The food portions for their entrees are big enough to be shared between two people or take home for later. I had the seafood Yaki Soba and I couldn't finish it all. There is even a large fish tank with a variety of shellfishes and eels in the middle of the restaurant. The atmosphere - calm and relaxing (since we came before the dinner rush). The tatami rooms are very nice and great for large parties.

I have to take some exception with one of the earlier reviews - I've been going to Akasaka for years and have had more than my share of sake there - I've never had a watered-down sake nor have I been charged $17 unless it was premium sake (which is special order not the house sake) a large sake here is the same as any place I've been. Chalk it up to confusion I guess. This is one of the best Sushi restaraunts in Puget Sound and you will have a very tough time finding the quality and variety of fish for the price anywhere. Lee and his wife do a fantastic job and having lived and dined in Puget sound for 20 years (and been to most of the Japanese Restaurants in the region) this is THE best kept secret in the region. Whether you are there for traditional Japanese or Korean fare; dining at the (typically crowded) sushi bar or in one of the intimate tatami rooms Akasaka will quickly become a favorite - just ask some of the regulars at the sushi bar how far they travelled to get there. J

There are many other Sushi restaurants that give better quanity for your dollar. my famly and friends noticed the difference and we have all stopped going their. Seeing the difference at other Sushi Restaurants ; for the money makes me want to kick myself for going there for years and being too lazy for find other up standing Sushi Restaurants. We have gone to several other restaurants mainly in or near downtown Seattle and haven't had any regrets. Staff usally friendly, expecially if your asian person. Pros: friendly staff Cons: below average size sushi slices

We dined there on Wed. night, it wasn't crowded, but the selelction was interesting. The restuarnt offers japanese sushi sashimi, and Korean style tofu soup. Both sushi, sahimi and korean BBQ and tofu soup was very nice. It wasn't pricy; and you can get so full just by having their varieties of appetizer. Their appetizer was very nice too, and you can refill it for more.
