I've never had anything but awesome customer service from Golden Shears. The groomers are great with my dog, even though he is a pain and takes lots of patience to groom. Also, the shop is immaculately clean and free of dog hair- the cleanest pet business I've ever been in. I have a really hard time believing the Judy's book review that says they saw a dog being struck, as the groomers have been nothing but kind to my pet. However, if it did happen, I hope the reviewer reported/discussed this with the owner- there's no way that Cathy would put up with that in her shop.

We used to bring our dogs here and were quite happy with the service, until one day when we'd arrived to pick up our kids. I witnessed a dog being struck while being groomed by one of the groomers. A groomer, who I'd previously believed was kind and gentle. To say I was shocked is putting it lightly.
We did not return after that. I tried posting about my experience on another forum, but my comment was quickly deleted. I think it's important for people to know that sometimes, looks can be deceiving.

I have taken my dogs, Papillons, to Golden Shears for over ten years and have found them to be well treated, well groomed and happy. I recently called several other groomers in Federal Way to check prices and found them to be within a dollar of two of what I pay. The groomers all take the time to chat with me and let my know of any problems they noticed. I highly recommend this groomer. Carole K.

I use Golden Shears to give my hound dog the occasional bath and nail clipping. The salon seems to be very popular. You must make an appointment at least a week in advance. Standard procedure is to shampoo, nail clip, and clean out the "orifices" [sorry]. The dog gets a pretty bow attached to her ear, too. You must drop off in the morning early and pick up later in the day [they will call]. It's pretty expensive, though, and I suspect that most of their clients are the dogs that need regular grooming.
