This is a very elegant restaurant in the Fair Oaks Village and is a popular place for special events. It is reserved for wedding dinners frequently (you can reserve it exclusively or just arrange to use a portion of the restaurant). They have a lot of indoor dining rooms to accommodate various sized groups, but if the weather is going to be nice, you might consider the courtyard/patio area in the back of the restaurant where you can dine under the sky/stars amid roaming roosters and chickens (part of the quaint atmosphere of Fair Oaks). The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Reservations are suggested if you plan on just dropping in (don’t if you’re booking here for the wedding because it can get busy). This is a great place for rehearsal dinners, smaller wedding receptions and all of your special events!

This is the place we go to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The Slocum House has an outdoor porch area that is miraculously bug-free, has chickens wandering around until dusk, and is surprisingly intimate. The porch is the main reason I like this place, it gives the entire experience an unhurried, quiet ambiance. Indoors is acceptable, if a bit loud. The food here is also top notch. Some of the fare changes regularly, and some does not, like the steak at the bottom of the menu. The presentation is excellent, and the portions are pretty darned big. I never have enough room for dessert.

Whenever we are celebrating our anniversary, we always go this place. We have to dress up for this place. The food is absolutely great. I had the ahi tuna recently and it was just cooked and prepared just right. My husband had the steak and refused to share. He said it was too good to share (lol). The wait staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. They were very helpful. You must have the creme brule for dessert. I think that it is the best in all of Sacramento.
Parking can be a problem sometimes. You will have to find street parking and walk over to the restaurant.
