My husband is a carnivore. But, I choose veggie whenever possible. I have been eating at the Sunflower for over 20 years. Their nutburger is the BEST. And, the shakes are amazing. My husband likes the falafel and tacos (I have tried them, and they are good), but again, the Nutburger is the BEST! Actually, the millet burger is pretty good too. If you have room (after the main course and a shake) try their chips and salsa. Also very good. This place is a walk-up stand. It is surrounded by picnic tables and chickens (live chickens which roam all over the Village)...so know that you might want to pick up and take home, or go around the corner for a picnic in the park.

I started going to sunflower drive inn when my son was 2 he is now 35. wow. I have since moved to far away to go there every chance I could. but when I go to calif. on trips sunflower drive inn is one the first places I go to.
I miss their food especially the nutty tacos are to die for. Just thinking about them makes me drool. I have tried to make them myself but have never been close. I have introduced everyone I have known when I lived there and still hear reports of their visits. When my dad would visit me sunflower drive inn was one of his request. He is an avid meat and potatoes kinda guy but those nutty tacos got him every time. If you go, eat a nutty taco for me. charlene

This is my favorite place to go on a nice afternoon for a delicious bite to eat with a friend or two. I have been going here for more than ten years and have tried just about everything on the menu. Everything is delicious, but I always go back to the nutburger. It's not just a burger.... it's really special. I have never had any complaints about the service, if I happen to every get the wrong item, I think I'd eat it anyway because I know it would be great. Service is slow, but its expected. We call if we are in a hurry, otherwise plan ahead. We usually walk over to the park or even a little further to the red bridge by the river. LOVE THIS PLACE. It's better than any other vegetarian restaurant I've been to. AND everyone I introduce to it gets hooked. If you haven't tried it, please do. Just make sure you have a little extra time. :)

Healthy food, lots on the menu and a great place to relax and enjoy your food. Wild chickens and roosters add to the experience and entertainment. The nut burgers are the best with chips and salsa and fruit smoothie. Highly recommend this place, but give yourself an extra 10 - 15 minutes if you are on your lunch break, food is prepared for you so it takes a little extra time and it can get crowded but so well worth it.
Pros: Healthy food prepared fresh
Cons: sometimes crowded so give yourself a little extra time

I eat here a lot because of the delicious food . I love the nutburger w/cheese , & the patty melt . The peanut butter shake is amazing . My wife is a fan of their falafel , & the nutty tacos . She also likes the raspberry yogurt shake . The staff is always kool to me , so I think that the few reviewers who complained about the service were probably putting off the bad vibe . If you want fake nicey nicey help , go to TGI Fridays . You'll definitely get LOTS of it there .

The food is really great. It is fresh and while the prices sometimes reflect it, you usually will get a large portion of anything you order. The service however can be fairly pathetic. Several times I have not gotten the right item. Once, I asked for it to go, and they gave it to me "for here" When i politely said, "oh, can i get this to go?" They VERY RUDELY said "Well, you got it for here", they even went and checked my ticket then handed it to me to prove that they had written down "for here". But, I have had very friendly experiences as well. And the food is worth the rude servers.
Pros: FOOD
Cons: Some servers

I REALLY love eating at the Sunflower in the off seasons (anytime but in the summer months). The service and the food seem to better, perhaps because they are not as busy then. In the summertime, they are ALWAYS slammed and it's hard to get in and out in under 45 minutes, even with to go orders. The atmosphere is great, and the chickens are fun to eat with. It's my favorite place to eat in Sacramento, but I avoid going there when it's crowded. I highly recommend checking it out though, as it is an experience to remember.
Pros: EXCELLENT food!!
Cons: Slow & unfriendly service at times

I think the two negative posters just don't get out much. They're very nice there and, if you had to crouch down and speak through a little window, it might be kind of difficult for you to be Mary Poppins pleasurable, too. The food is fantastic, even the chips and chunky salsa (tomato water, my eye). On a sunny Saturday afternoon, the place is packed. Take a walk over to the park and enjoy your food with the chickens!
