the bbq and teriyaki and saimin are so good. the best part is the spam musubi!! also, the yummy guava cake, as well as some island treats from back home.

I just love Bobby's is like being back in Hawaii! My favorite is the Kailbi side order Kim Chee and the Guava chiffon cake. Very delicious food there. It's just one big OHANA!

We have tried Bobby's Hawaiian Restaurant 4-5 times over the last several years, each time hoping to get in on the live music for awhile. Neither my husband (a Pacific Islander) nor I are of Hawaiian descent, but we have visited several Polynesian islands during our travels, and do enjoy the culture and cuisine of these places. On two of our visits to Bobby's, when we were still working on finishing our meals, a staff person actually offered to bring us a box to carry out the remainder of our meals. When I told her we weren't done yet, she told us that they will be needing to make room for other customers who may be coming in and wanting a table. So I said, " Oh, are you wanting us to leave?" to which she replied, "Oh nooo, not right now!" She was clearly ready for us to go, even though initially we had to wait awhile for our food, and they were out of two of the items we had wanted to order. Unfortunately, if you don't arrive fairly early, you stand a chance of waiting for a table (obviously), yet when you do arrive early, you may be prompted to leave before getting to enjoy much of the live music. I can't imagine the staff prompting those diners who seem to be their friends to leave quickly. Our waitress only came twice to our table, and even though they wanted us to leave to make room for other patrons, they never brought us the check. When my husband asked, they told us that they always take payment at the cash register. And by the way, the food is on the greasy side, and a little too rich. Neither the tossed salad (iceberg lettuce), or macaroni (standard), are very interesting either. It would be nice if they had more to offer on their menu, maybe some healthier island choices, such as fresh tropical fruit or some vegetable side dishes to even out the menu. Then it would better match the price they are charging, which is too much for the kind of food we got....
Pros: It's one of very few Hawaiian restaurants in the area and the live music is nice. Bobby is friendly too.
Cons: Menu is not varied or balanced enough, service is not equally attentive to all patrons.

This is the only place I've had Hawaiian food so I can only compare it to other types of food but I thought this was some of the best food I've ever had. The Mochi chicken and BBQ chicken is flavorful tender, and totally worth the extra weight it puts on my butt. The service on the other hand is poor, but I've moved 30 miles away and now always get it to go so it's not even a factor for me anymore.
Pros: great food
Cons: slow service

I would have to say that I wouldn't go to this place again. I tried their 2 combo plate with kalua pork and kalbi. The kalbi was way too sweet and the kalua pork was okay. As for the cutlet that my friend ordered, it was sweet too. I really don't remember food like this back home. As for the guava cake that I tried, it was $4 and it wasn't nearly as good as Kauai Desserts which was only $3.50 a piece. The mac salad wasn't all that great. The service was excellent and quite attentive and there was a nice hawaiian feel to the place but the food was just not worth it.
Pros: service,ambience
Cons: sweet food overall

My wife and I have visited this restaurant twice (once for lunch and then dinner), space about 8 months apart. The first visit (lunch) was fine, nothing to write home about. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, the food was just average, and the cost, I thought, was a bit high for what we got. The only downside was the service, which was lacking, only saw the waitress twice, when she took our order and when she brought our bill ... but, I have to say it was busy.
Our second visit (dinner) was a total disappointment. We brought along some friends for a quiet evening out, so a quick service was not required or expected by us. Unfortunately, even with that expectation on our part, the quality of service strained our patience. From the time we sat down to when we finally left was about one hour and forty-five minutes. To make matters worse, the food was not nearly as good as I expected. My Lomi was soggy, lacked taste and I barely detected any salt. The Lau-Lau was a dried-up piece about the size of a racketball, and the mac salad was warm, almost hot. The other members of my group said their dinners were simply fine, nothing special. The atmosphere at that time was uncomfortable because we could hear other customers complaining about the service and food as well.
Pros: none
Cons: poor service

We attempted Bobby's on four separate occasions, thinking our bad experiences were just a fluke because we had heard good things from one reliable friend. Twice at the former location, and now, twice at the new location.
Our water once again remained unfilled, the barbecue chicken was covered in charred black bits, the laulau is sadly sized and appears to be made elsewhere, portions were smaller than in Hawai'i, and ahi/mahi was overpriced. We even took pictures of our food to send to the referral friend who moved back to Waimea. He was appalled.
If you would like to see them, let us know.
For some reason the "Mahalo's" feel cold and the contact is terse and false, not at all like being back home.
If people think this is true plate lunch or Hawai'ian fare, they are missing out. Aloha Plates in Uwajimaya Seattle has fresher food and tastes more authentic. Try Kauai Family on 6th in Seattle for the real deal.
We are born & raised kama'aina to Kona & Lihue, we know the food inside & out, we cook it, we live it, it is part of our culture.
Try it to see if it fits you, we gave it too many chances, and will not go back.
Pros: a little bit of home, music
Cons: food, service, prices
