Sundance is a great, highly cost-efficient place to get dry/bulk goods, both conventionally grown and organic, everything from grains to beans, nuts, seeds, chocolate and carob chips, coffees, loose teas, herbs, pet food, etc.
Their packaged, frozen and refrigerated items tend to be on the high side, as is the organic produce, soaps, vitamins, supplements, etc. They have a nice deli and cheese section too, and a salad/lunch bar, which is all delicious but pricey.
Sundance is a classic old-school hippie store. The aisles are narrow, everything is crowded. It's everything Whole Foods or Wild Oats isn't, which is great, because you're definitely not paying for those aisles and impressive product displays.
It's become a bit of a community center -- the bulletin boards outside tend to have an impressive snapshot of Eugene community life. It sits on a big lot with Sundance Mercantiles and Paul's Bicycle of Way of Life at its back., right on 24th (Paul's is a little further down Alder), along with a coffee shop and a video and gaming store.

Sundance is what could become a dying bread of locally-owned natural foodstores. It is full of many things you would find at a Wholefoods or Wild Oats, but it has two things that spread it from its competition. Firstly, they specialize in selling wine, and have their own cellar. Second, they have a marvelous salad bar.
