Years ago we had a standing date on Friday morning to meet friends at The Glenwood on Willamette Street for breakfast. Huevos Rancheros was the standard order. I can't imagine how I ate the whole thing...and the portions are still just as huge as they were back then. Prices still very reasonable ($5 - $10 for most items.)
The Glenwood has in Eugene for years, and the crowds just keep coming. Weekend breakfast time is almost always going to mean a wait for a table. That's one of the reasons I rarely go to their other location (on 13th & Alder St.) Perched on campus, it is always packed with students, not just on weekends. Last time I was there, I noticed the menu was similar but slightly different at the campus location.
Breakfast is the big deal -- homefries, pancakes and all kinds of eggs. There are also tofu scrambles, breakfast burritos, and other items for more exotic eating. And coffee...lots of coffee...
My absolute lunch favorite is their tomato soup with bits of cheese swirled in. But if you want a burger, club sandwiche or salad -- it's are all there for your choosing. Dinner can be anything from a burger to something fancier. Evening meal pricing goes up, too.
Because they are so busy, service quality varies. Go expecting to wait, and be assertive in getting your service person's attention.
