I came to Mazzi's for a birthday party, which was a mistake! We had a party of 12, which was nice because they gave us a private room, but our waiter was terrible. He did not know the wine lists or could not offer any suggestions for items the restaurant was out of. We were only checked on once after our food arrived. At the end of the meal, much to our dismay, the Mazzi's wait staff/management refused to slit the bill so we could all pay on our respective cards. I personally was overcharged $85 on my tab alone.

This is a great Italian place. There is usually a long wait and they don't take reservations so come early. The regular calzone is by far the best thing on the menu. It doesn't taste like your average calzone, more like an Italian pizza pie. They make their own dough for the calzones and their delicious hard rolls.

This is a beautiful restaurant with vine covered outdoor seating in the warmer months ( and a little fountain) feels like little Italy. The food is fabulous. It is however, quite expensive.

Mazzi's isn't just for pizza and it's a good thing because the pizza isn't that special. But they make a wonderful lasagna dish and other italian dishes. They're a little high priced but it's a nice romantic atmosphere for a special date and good food and wine.

My wife took me here for my birthday, since I love Italian food. The food was excellent, though it seems to be slightly overpriced. The ambiance in the restaurant was very peaceful and makes those at your table feel as if they are the only ones there. Waitstaff is friendly and responsive.
Our table, with the 2 of us, seemed to be a bit small for all the food they brought out to fit on. But the booths/other tables looked bigger. We came on what happened to be a busy night, so that may be part of it.

Maybe I'm a bit critical growing up in the North End of Boston, But when I took my wife to "Mazzi's" I was expecting a little more. All I heard since moving here was that Mazzi's is the place. Well they got that right, the place where the meatballs taste like meatloaf and the service was slow for an early Friday dinner crowd. My chicken was at best mediocre but definately better than the meatballs. Shame on you calling that an Italian meatball.
Pros: Cozy feeling, friendly staff
Cons: slow service, food doesn't taste very italian
