While many pay hundreds of dollars to watch plays in NYC, we Erieites are lucky to boast a wonderful playhouse right here in the heart of our very own downtown, for very reasonable prices that families can afford.
Plays run all year 'round and generally run for decent lengths of time so you can almost always fit it into your hectic schedule. Musicals, dramas, mysteries and more are presented regularly by local talents and sometimes talents brought in from other cities.
The prices are phenomenal and the theater itself is quite beautiful to sit in also. Enjoy a relaxing evening or weekend day/night sitting snug inside their cushioned seats while watching some top rate talents perform.
It is recommended to make reservations ahead and they will hold tickets for you, as sometimes weekend performances will sell out quickly.

Although Erie lacks in the art gallery department, it does not lack in the theatre department. The Erie Playhouse is a long-popular staple of the community. When you visit the Erie Playhouse, it makes your visit downtown feel more city-like. Youll find two main seating areas in the playhouse: main level (orchestra) and balcony. Most seats offer fine views of the stage, with surprisingly good acoustics throughout. The average show runs for 2-3 weeks, and a new show is on the main stage about every 6-8 weeks. A lot of the shows are well known, and the local actors and actresses do an impressive job. Its just a little bit more expensive than you might think.

I've been to Erie Playhouse once. I can honestly say it was a fun evening. The actors were great, and the evening passed quickly. Unfortunately, I thought the ticket prices were overpriced. I personally wouldn't go very often simply because I couldn't afford it. The drinks at the bar were small and expensive. Definately not worth it. Overall, I would recommend anyone seeing a play there at least once. it's a nice alternative to the usual movie theater on a Saturday night.

If you like the theater and the arts, even if you don't, then try seeing a performance at the Erie Playhouse. They have a variety of programs during the year. They also have a variety of season passes that you can purchase for you alone or for the family. They also give student discounts. Reasonably priced.

If you ever get a chance to see a performance at the Erie Playhouse, take it. It will be one of the best experiences you will have. It was so much fun for the kids. We adults also enjoyed it. There isn't a bad seat in the house. It is a memory my child will never forget and it makes it worth it! It's local talent and it's great to see kids on stage that are from the area and putting themselves out there for fun and learning.
