I used to love going to Waldameer as a child/teenager. They have lots of rides, games, junky amusement park foods and fun. I just went to Waldameer a few months ago and it's still the same. They have a lot of new rides and games, but it hasn't changed that much. They have a new roller coaster which, unfortunately, I didn't get to ride. They also have slower paced rides for the geriatric set. I highly recommend Thunder River, if you are the adventurous type! Please Waldameer officials, do something different with the Pirate's Cove! Put some new monsters in or something.
As for value, you'll pay almost $20 for a Ride A Rama, which is a wrist band that they give you that lets you ride all day on any ride as many times as you'd like. You can also buy ride tickets but the Rama is the best bet if you expect to ride on more than a few rides.
Nice time for a hot summer day.

This is an excellent movie theater! They just recently got stadium seating and it makes the theaters so much nicer! There are snack bars conviently located in different sections of the theater so you don't have to travel to the main one during a movie. There are also plently of rest rooms and an arcade, pizza parlor and coffie bar in the front!

If you get a chance to go to Splash Lagoon -- go! It has many slides, great food and just a relaxing atmosphere. It is so much fun. I highly recommend it for families, but my husband and I have also gone by ourselves for a few hours. Don't miss it! They have a large children's area where the water is only a few inches high which is great for the little ones. It's just a great experience that your children will love, especially in the winter months to break the monotony.

Cinema 6 is Erie's version of the cheapie theater. Sure, they show movies that have been out for a while so if you're the type of person that MUST see it the minute it comes out, then this is not the place for you! But if you can hold off and enjoy it later on and pay literally a fraction of the price, this is your spot! A great way to be able to afford a movie for the entire family and they even run "Family Night" where the entire family gets in for a few dollars.
Regular price is $1.50 per movie with weekends up to $2.00 I think. Specials run different weekdays that run anywhere from $.75 a movie to group rates. Prices are beyond reasonable! Of course they still like to overcharge for the popcorn and soda, but even that is somewhat cheaper than standard theaters.

Ok, it's winter.. you're all sitting inside and eating. Do you REALLY want to put on 10 more pounds or do you want to get out and move!!!?
If you're tired of being stuck inside, winter, spring, summer and fall... it's time to hit Family First. Memberships are available but not necessary to enjoy a day of fun and family togetherness.
The Park offers tons of things to do from indoor courts, party rooms, go karts, soccer fields, you name it and you can find the place to do it here! This is a great place to throw a kids birthday party too! You can let them go nuts, get out all that pent up energy that normally will drive you nuts at home and sit back and enjoy the thrills.
Every year it keeps growing too! Come grow with them... instead of growing bigger in that easy chair!!!!!!

More
Say what you'd like, the Erie Zoo is a step above the rest and when you compare it to others in larger cities, it ranks as well if not in some areas better. They are constantly trying to keep the Zoo up to date. New animals slowly come in one by one (not quite Ark like in 2 by 2's but they're trying!) and new babies are being born often. New birth at a zoo means one thing, the zoo is doing things right. This also helps to purchase or trade for other animals to other zoos.
The Erie Zoo has a much smaller area to work with then the other surrounding, larger zoos but yet it still maintains nearly as many animals. What I love most is that you don't walk for miles, like some zoos, and see nothing. Every step there is something to view.
The new Asian area is wonderful. Not only does it contain many wonderful animals in the exhibit, including a baby orangutan, but it also makes the walk through interesting for kids with hands on, push button questions and answers areas.
During the summer hours a wonderful old train ride can be taken for very little cost. Travel through parts of the zoo in style as you get a tour of the new children's area and a special section saved just for the train riders. A carousel ride is always a must for kids young and old. The indoor exhibits offer more to look at on rainy, colder days than on sunny warm ones when many of the animals are let out to their outdoor pens. You can always enjoy the beautiful and oldest female gorilla in captivity, Samantha. While Sam may seem bored at times, she's far from it. She watches tv back in her private area, plays with visiting mice, and believe it or not watches the visitors as intently as they watch her. She's wonderful.
Membership is a must for anyone visiting, not only because you can access the Erie Zoo free once the membership is purchased but many others throughout the US and Canada.

If you ever get a chance to see a performance at the Erie Playhouse, take it. It will be one of the best experiences you will have. It was so much fun for the kids. We adults also enjoyed it. There isn't a bad seat in the house. It is a memory my child will never forget and it makes it worth it! It's local talent and it's great to see kids on stage that are from the area and putting themselves out there for fun and learning.
