When I was recently looking to surprise my husband with a new longboard, I asked around and nearly everyone pointed me to Encinitas Surfboards. I had an idea of what I wanted but needed help (and patience since I'm not a surfer myself). Matt spent a long time with me and helped me pick out a beautiful classic longboard. It was perfect and a big hit with my husband. Everyone in the shop was friendly and so helpful and so professional and knowledgable, and they had a great selection of boards and accessories. You really get a good vibe from the store.

Quail is a very special place, with the most fantastic bamboo forest, fruit tree collections, cork trees, waterfalls, hidden gardens, a really good plant store, and an ever enlarging, naturalistic children's play area. But it is $8 -- a fee necessitated when it was spun off from Encinitas as a private entity. It is too much. Much better to become a member for $50, with guest privileges.. It is one of the few memberships I'm really proud of...and it encourages me to go more often.

If you have eclectic taste and are looking for the unusual or maybe just the art print you've been waiting for, then Duckys is the place for you. Duckys is difficult to find the very first time you try but once you do you'll never forget.
The shop is very small but is jam packed full of stuff. The owner is an older gentleman that will answer any and all questions that you may have. He carries all different types of merchandise so chances are you'll find something you like.

I highly recommend this store. I was recommended to Paul Zapf, the former owner, by a teaching pro at TPines GC. The moment you walk in, you know they are in the business because they love the sport, and not because they soley care to make a sale of equipment. It is NOTHING like going into Goldsmith, Nevada Bobs, etc. Strongly recommend you try them out, as they carry items that are difficult to order, and always there to help.

This is a great local surf shop that will have every product you need related to surfing. Whether it be clothes, shoes, boards or even wax, this shop has got it all. The people there are all locals and know what going on in San Diego when it comes to surfing. Things are expensive in the shop, but what isnt expensive today that is surfing related.

I recently visited San diego for a meeting. I found El Camino through a Titus Web Site link because I wanted to demo a racer-x. Will Schellenger, the owner, knowing full well that I was unlikely to buy the bike there, all the way across the country from home in NY, could not have been more helpful. He allowed me to demo his personal Racer-X (the best FS bike I have ever ridden btw), and gave me tons of wonderful advice. If he treats his regular customers HALF as well it should be your first choice in local shops. I have never received better care in a bike shop! Perfect 10!!!

Even though I worked at a competing surf shop, I would occasionally shop here for there amazing clearance items! They also have more skateboard trucks than other surf shops, but not as many as McGills Skate Shop. I like K-5 because they have lots of sales and events. The Encinitas store is particularly well-laid out (easy to find things)!

This is THE best place to go for outdoor equipment in general. They frequently have awesome sales on clothing, camping gear, etc. We were so excited when they opened this new store in Encinitas. It doens't seem as big as the store in Kearny Mesa, but it is 2 levels, so it may just be that looks are deceiving because they have a lot of merchandise too.
The staff is really helpful and they have all kinds of incentives for shopping there. If you buy a pair of shoes there and don't like them for whatever reason (they fall apart, they just don't fit right, anything!), they'll take them back and you can exchange them, even after years! They have a rewards program that earnsmoney towards future purchases. They also can order anything they carry that you don't find in the actual store and have it either shipped to you or the store.

I used Kiwi Jump Company about a week ago and they were fantastic! The jump was colorful and really clean. They were very professional and friendly. I would definitely use Kiwi Jump again and refer them to my friends.
