The Grand Lake Farmer's Market is a wonderful neighborhood spot. It has tons of organic produce, at very good prices; a lot of specialized things like "the mushroom guy" and of course the Kettle Korn booth; gifts and knick-knacks; the Oaklandish booth; a lot of pre-made food which often includes DELICIOUS French food, awesome Afghan cuisine, and drool-worthy "Shakespearean desserts;" and live music, and just everything. It's a great place to run into people, have brunch, and do some really cheap and healthy grocery shopping. And there are samples of practically everything. Plus, it's year-round!

Bunkhorn Grill is a chain and there are probably hundreds of other locations, but the first time I had their food was in Emeryville's Bay Street. Buckhorn Grill can probably be classified as Fastfood Steakhouse. The beef is perfectly prepared to your liking and depending what meal you choose, you get these delicious "Roadhouse Onions" which can be best described as shredded onion rings. Their food is delicious and they guarantee that your food is done in 5 minutes or its on the house.
The location at Emeryville can get pretty crowded around night time, but in only aids in my facination of the place...Despite the crowd, they still keep up their 5 minute standard.

This theater is pretty big. It is sort of hidden between bridges and overpass and streets and corners in Emeryville. I would take a very different route I go here with different people because it just happens that way. I can not say much about a theater because that's all it is. You go in, pay 8 bucks with a student ID, and you watch a movie. Maybe I can talk about the seating as the cushion are nice and comfortable and you do not have to deal with people standing up and blocking your view with the stadium seating. The snacks are definitely overpriced, but that is like every other theater. All I can say is this is another theater to choose from as it is not too shabby.

This theatre has free parking, stadium seating and the international food court in its backyard. The only downside is that the movies tend to be a little older.

I like the Harvest Home Store because their style of furniture and accessories is a kind of casual modern design. So if you like clean lines, but a cozy feel for home decorating it may be worth checking out. My main complaint with this store though, is that because it's on the small side, they try to cram in as much furniture on the showroom floor as they can, so it feels crowded.

The best thing about this Subway is the location. It's next door to the Amtrack train station, and it's in a big office building that has nice sitting areas. The service is okay on weekdays; weekends it's not nearly as fast, even tho there's never a crowd. If you're waiting for a train, it's the easiest place to grab something to go, and on nice days, the fountain nearby is a really nice lunch spot with comfy benches and public are.
Pros: Nice outdoor seating in office park nearby; close to Amtrack station
Cons: Chain food

Usually you can't go wrong with Chevy's fun, festive environment... unless you visit this Emeryville location on a Sunday around noon. Originally, they gave us a difficult time about making a reservation for 5 adults and 2 kids, but when we arrived, we could see that the reservations were not necessary. We were among maybe five total tables being served, with empty tables all around us. The three hostesses at the front were all totally rude and uninterested in helping to seat us. Finally, they got around to pointing at the table where we should sit. Before we seated ourselves though, one of the hostesses who was blowing up balloons at the front popped one right next to us. Obviously this happens and isn't a big deal, but it made us all jump and she didn't even apologize or comment to us. Once we were seated, our waitress couldn't be bothered to smile or say hello once we sat down, and was completely rude throughout the entire lunch. Our food came out one order at a time, with the child's bean burrito being the very last to be served (about 10 minutes after the adult meals had been served). Needless to say, we were unimpressed. A few additional things: we had to ask 3 times for the brunch menu (she kept saying, "You have them", but of course we didn't.), when we asked for an additional bowl of salsa for the chips, she basically threw it down on the table next to the first bowl, and right after our food arrived, our waitress said "do you need anything else, cause I'm going home. I'd much rather be at home right now." Maybe she was just having a bad day, but unless there is a complete change in the staffing at this restaurant, I will never visit this Chevy's again.
The one nice thing is the view, as the restaurant is located right on the bay. And of course, the food is always good. I feel bad for the cooks at this Chevy's because they do not deserve to be punished for the horrible service that goes on in the front of the house.
Pros: reliable food, view of the bay
Cons: the service is the worst
