I avoided this place for a long time because the outside looked kinda scary. Finally, a friend said it was okay, and now we go here about 3x a month. The sushi is good, and the bento box meals are wonderful (try the salmon...it's wonderful.) Don't be put off by the "vegetarian drinks" sign outside. It's a nice, homey place with good, fresh sushi, for a decent price. It gets crowded during lunch, but at dinner, you can always get a table as soon as you walk in.
Pros: easy to get a table, good parking
Cons: sometime service is slow

The food is so good at this restaurant that I don't understand why I don't have to wait for a table! Maybe the exterior turns some people off (weeds in parking lot), but the decor inside (quiet booths, a rarity in the Bay Area, and great sushi bar) and the superb food makes for a relaxing and very enjoyable evening. We love to eat here with friends who we want to enjoy really good food in a quiet, comfortable, attractive atmosphere-with moderate prices! You can get a wonderful dinner with drinks for $25! If you add sushi-and yes, we do-it is a more, but well worth it. The sushi is attractivly presented (creative-like the Lion King Roll or the Cherry Blossom or the Caterpiller Roll, plus familiar items like the Lambada) and the sashimi is always fresh and good. I have eaten here with small groups and groups as large as 10-no problem, even for non-raw fish eaters! My husband is hard of hearing, but in a booth, he has no trouble hearing! It is possible to call ahead and order speciality sushi/seafood items, or have your own signature dish re-created to your order. (I have a friend who does this.) I don't eat deep-friend food, but my friends have raved about the tempura. It is fun to try the saki sampler, and my non-drinking friends and children have also been happy with their choice of beverage. The children also like the Japanese desserts, like deep-fried ice cream and interesting ice creams. We even had happy children who were allergic to food coloring and had never had Japanese food before. (The teriyaki appeals to everyone, and our children like the fried rice and California Rolls-crab and avocado) Our children also like the large sushi bar and friendly sushi chef!
Pros: Great , well-prepared food and ample proportions; quiet booths for visiting
Cons: Parking front and back could be confusing. Little hard to get into parking lot (which needs attention)

This place is terribly overpriced for the quality of sushi they sell. Also they use american mayo for a lot of their crab rolls. When we went we asked for explanation on a few dishes and then after that we ordered. We clearly said we didn?t want a few items and when it came time for the food .... Those items came without being ordered.
We ordered two ?Chef's Special? Sashimi dinners at almost 20 dollars came with no sashimi at all....two California rolls one fancier than the other to make them appear like two different types of roll (with American mayo) and 4 pieces of nigiri and on the menu it said came with sake. When the bill arrived the sake was a separate charge. Usually a dinner with good sushi at other restaurants like (TAKE sushi on grand ave) for two people ends u p in the 60 dollar range but some how this place ended up in the 80 dollar range and the food left much to be desired.
I am not cheap but I most defiantly don?t like pay more for stuff that is worth at most 50% of what they are charging. Stay way from this place. Try Kirala, TAKE sushi or Drunken Fish all of which are a short 5 mins drive from this location.
Pros: The interor of the place is nice, very clean like it never been used.
Cons: Bad service, sushi not good, overpriced

Based on the previous reviews we decided to give Sushi Village a try. Their sign out front if read quickly always makes us laugh as it says 'Vegetarian Drinks'. Great food and good service. We sat at the bar and took advantage of the sushi boats and were very pleased with the quality of the food - and nearly all freshly made. If you live in Emeryville check this place out - a hidden gem.

I live near Sushi Village and always drive by it. Like the previous review, I was hesitant to go to this restaurant because it never looked like it had any customers. But one Saturday night, my husband and I decided to try it. We went at 6pm and we were only the second group of customers there. But this just made our seating that much quicker. Although the meal is pricey, our portions were quite large. With most of the dishes offered, it comes with miso soup and salad. This place really should be getting more patrons. As we ate, only two more sets of customers arrived. The only reason to explain why more ppl don't eat here definitely isn't because of the food. I'd suggest that they do more advertising to get more customers. I think they would do so much better if they did...
Pros: Decent portions, Food is fresh
Cons: Price, Lack of customers

Sorry, but the one time I decided to try this dubious looking Sushi Restaurant my family was not happy. We waited for 45 minutes for service and then recieved items we were familiar with but not the taste was off. We haven't been back since. If you want cheap prices then give it a whirl, otherwise go to any of the other numerous Sushi bars in the area.

This place serves up a wide variety of sushi - you can pluck your sushi off one of the boats that go around and around, or order directly from a server. They also have other Japanese dishes like noodles and teriyaki meats - most of which are ok. The sushi is definitely what to order here. Sushi Village is a nice alternative to other things going on around Emeryville, but their service, which ranges from apathetic to nearly hostile deters me from going more often. I've been here more than five times - and each time has been horrible service-wise.
PROS: sushi
CONS: a little expensive - and disappointing service

I live about 5 minutes away from Sushi Village, but have never tried it before. I looked at reviews here and it was ambiguous, so let me set the record straight. The food here is EXCELLENT! The service was wonderful. They really need more business in order to be remotely as snobby as the people at Sushi House. You get seated promptly because it's still not a happenin' restaurant yet. So go try it now! We had the Emeryville Roll ($11.95)and it was delicious. The prices are a little higher than Sushi House, but a lot less than other spots (3 item bento box is $17.95). Also, they recently renovated the inside, and it looks very nice. Don't let exteriors fool you like it did me. Give it a try.
Pros: Great Food, Ample Seating, Excellent Service
