I'm not usually a fan of scones--they're really dry and hard to eat. But Arizmendi is an exception! Their scones are hard on the outside, but really soft on the inside, with just the right amount of sweetness.
Also something great that they have are their pizzas. Every day they have a new, unique flavor of pizza. They don't sell anything like pepperoni or cheese--you either take the one pizza they have, or don't eat anything. But their flavors are really good and interesting!

This place has interesting pizza where they use fresh ingredients every day. It usually turns out good. Their bakery products are good and always satisfying.

This is a local favorite among many because of its vegetarian pizza selection. They only serve one type of pizza a day, and they serve it by the slice. It can be a lot more expensive this way than any local pizza joint, but the pizza is like a specialty because of its fresh vegetables and herbs. The pizza I got was without sauce, a mushroom, artichoke, onions and feta cheese pizza. It was really good. But I don't have the money to eat here very often.

The pizza is tasty the first few times you have it, but after awhile I just go tired of so much oil on it, but that is forgiven, what bothers me was the time I was in there and the guy at the register with tattoo's on his neck (one of the owners mind you) he smelled like a homeless person! I could smell him from across the counter as I was giving him my money, of course I lost my appetite, and have not been back since, which is too bad since I live in the neighborhood. Maybe someone should call the health dept!

Don't be dissuaded by the San Pablo location...there's parking in the back and a nice open breezeway to sit in while you nosh on their goods.

Their pizza of the day has a lovely thin crust, wit the perfect texture and flavorful sourdoughy taste. Though the toppings vary from day to day, I have had several different types, which have all been excellent. If you like heavy pizza with lots of cheese and sauce, don't come here. If you like light gourmet style pizza, with a sprinkling of roasted vegatables on top. Buy a whole pizza. Reheats well.
The other baked good are very tasty too. But mostly I just buy the pizza.
Pros: Excellent pizza ad baked goods. Light and delicious.
Cons: Not many places to eat on a busy meal time.

Arizmendi is the people's bakery. Unlike many shops in Emeryville, this place is owned by the folks who work there. It has a nice vibe to it, doesn't feel sterile like some chain restaurant. Really, though, about the food....delicious pastries and pizza. The coffee is good and strong. I like the fact that they use some organic ingredients. I feel good about patronizing this establishment.
Pros: easy to get to, ample parking, good variety
Cons: could be neater, not enough seating

$2 for a slice of yummy fresh pizza! This is not the usual red sauce and mozzarella deep dish pizza but equally as delicious. All slices are vegetarian and very interesting. The crust is sourdough with a cornmeal bottom making it nice and crisp. The toppings are always genius. My favorite being the sweet potato, sweet onion, goat cheese and pesto.
The bakery items are equally tasty. My favorites being the cheese bisquits, ginger loaf and hazelnut shortbread. They also have great artisian breads and foccacias.
They do take credit card but you must purchase $10 or more, which is easily done for me!
Pros: Easy Parking, Fresh Baked Goodies, Friendly Staff
Cons: No indoor seating

I am a long time devoted customer to the cheese board and the Arizmendi Collectives as I live near by the lakeshore store but I was thrilled to find another Arizmendi in Emeryville. The bakers there make high quality/organic ingredients available in their products for a fair price. They also recently started serving fair trade espresso drinks in the morning to compliment a delicious pastry! Their pizza is amazing and they use only fresh/seasonal toppings with a variety of flavors......All this, and PARKING makes this arizmendi a gem of San Pablo Ave!!!
Pros: organic/seasonal food, pizza pizza pizzaz!, friendly ownership
Cons: variations of product, small seating area, hard to find signs
