This gym is the best gym in the world. The customer Service is great. The trainers are there for all their clients and really know what they are talking about. Wonderful strength training and aerobics classes. The instructors stop and really let you know what you need to be doing if you doing something incorrect.
The lighting in there is great. It is just like a home atmosphere. I recommend that you try this gym out as soon as you can. It is wonderful and everyone is so nice.
Pros: Awesome gym
Cons: NONE

If you go to this salon, be sure to make an appointment with Lee. She is the most professional and experienced mancurist there. She takes the extra time to be sure the work is done well and that the look will last.
Pros: Ask for Lee

I have been going to CURE for the last 2 years. I have continued to frequent this place for a few key reasons -
1. The staff have always been warm and friendly to me. When I come in they greet me enthusiastically, ask about the newest goings on in my life, but DON'T talk my ear off during my whole mani and pedi.
2. Because CURE is an eco-friendly place, there are no hard chemicals (like acrylic nail stuff) in the spa. Therefore, when you are there you don't inhale toxic fumes. CURE even hosts a Mom's Night on Wednesdays where moms can bring their babies because there are no harmful products used.
3. Free COSMOS on Fridays and Saturdays (and for me pretty much any day). What's not to love about a free cocktail while I get my manicure on?
In short, I love CURE. It's right in the heart of Emeryville 5 minutes from my office AND there's always parking.
Pros: Tranquil environment, great leg massages from Julie, and awesome services (like spray tanning)
Cons: A little off the beaten path, but well worth it (and there's free parking)

You will leave feeling gorgeous, refreshed and rejuvenated! Tony has been my stylist for many, many years. I liked the old space on College, but this new space in Emeryville is perfection. So very relaxing. A full array of top knotch Aveda products are displayed in a spacious and lovely retail section.
Looking for a new salon? Look no further, this place is fabulous.
Tony an Guy are gracious and kind and I recommend their salon without reservation!

I worked in the hospitality industry for years, and I would clear my schedule for months to make sure I could attend a Paula LaDuc catered event. I've been to their pre-season tastings, where they preview the new menus for the year, and it is an amazing experience. Paula LaDuc menus are consistently delicious, creative, fun, and simply some of the best food you've ever had, especially in the context of big catered affairs. Use them if you can afford them.

CURE offers a spotlessly clean and very friendly environment with a full menu of manicures, pedicures, waxing and other decadent treatments for reasonable (less than San Francisco) prices. The beauticians take their time, so you'll never feel like your on an assembly line. The Asian-inspired foot soak with warm pebbles is the best part of their great pedicures. Mani/pedi combo is $40. Look for special discounts, including 2-for-1 and discounts for moms with infants.

I have been to the National Holistic Institute on many occasions and have always received a great massage. I think that the students even work harder to please patrons than the masseuses at high-end salons. The students have taken all of the classes and fulfilled the requirements and this gives them “hands-on” experience. The instructors are there to assure the students are doing well. It’s very affordable. I try to go every time I am in town.

More
If you live or work in Emeryville, here is a friendly pilates studio run by a husband and wife couple. The instructors are certified in Power Pilates. They offer group mat classes with a maximum class size of 10 people, which is great. Never done pilates before? I recommend taking the 4-session beginners workshop (1 hour per week for 4 weeks) for $55. The instructor is very good at breaking down each exercise and giving you personal attention to make sure you learn the basics accurately. Private training sessions on the equipment are also available. Free parking. $15 per class, but you can get a volume discount if you prepay for a multi-class card.
