arizmendi is a great pizza place that serves one type of vegetarian pizza a day, and that type changes each day depending on ingredients in season. (this is much like the more popular cheeseboard in berkeley--in fact, if you've been there, you notice that it's practically the same thing in emeryville). for some reason, i like cheeseboard a little more (i still really like this place), and i don't know if it's psycholigical.
they tend to have more sweet type breads compared to cheeseboard, and i've found that their pizza slice size is pretty non-consistent. one time, i went with a friend for lunch, and my slice was literally half the size of hers, even though we paid the same price.

Pamir is my favorite of the EmeryBay food court scene. They always give you a huge helping, and let you try samples of the various curries and the chicken kebobs.
They are also very helpful and polite, and you end up with a feeling that they really appreciate your business.
When you get tired of plain old mushy Indian food, give Pamir a try!
PROS: Big helpings, Delicious Curries.
CONS: Its a food court restaurant. - Find your own table, etc.

This was the first CPK I have ever been to and when I went with my friend, we ordered so many pizzas we did not know what to do with them... except eat them all. =) This chain has actually warmed up to me the past few times I went. The wait may be long at times, and sometimes waiting outside might be a bit chilly, but it is certainly worth it, especially if you are hungry. The drinks are expensive, so I recommend sticking to water. There are a lot of seatings, from the window seats in the front, to the seats by the bar (if you do not want to wait for a table), and to the seats in the far back. The service is great too.

California Pizza Chicken is a great place anywhere (not just in Emeryville). I love their Garclic Chicken pizza and Chinese Chicken salad! The price is a little pricey for pizza but their pizza is delicious! You will be satisfied. The decor is fun and interesting and the place is pretty big. Parking is hard to find, you can either park on the street and use the parking meter or there is a parking garage (don't know the price). The restaurant is on the second floor and a very attractive place to eat as the dim lights give an appealing look. The food is great though and the workers are friendly. I recommend to everyone.

Rudy's is fun at any age. One of a kind artistic tables and interesting art on the walls (and on the tattooed waitstaff) and indie rock on the sound system keeps the atmosphere creative and casual. Kids can color with crayons and order off a special kids menu. Diner-chic menu includes gourmet salads, burgers, sandwiches, award-winning french fries, as well as beer and wine. Rudy's has outdoor seating, happy hour specials and is open until 1am on friday and saturday nights. Keep in mind that the brunch lines are way too long, so it's much better to check this spot out for weekday lunch or dinner any night.

My son is on a Gluten Free/Casein Free diet and my family is used to eating out a lot (at least when we are entertaining out of town guests). We went here after a day out and they were so accommodating! Our waitress had only been on staff for a few days, but she was aware of the menu and was careful to make sure she had the correct order (my father-in-law ordered a non GF dish and she wanted to make sure that was right). We had leftover GF soy sauce and since it's somewhat hard to find in the stores, I asked if I could take the extra home. In the process of clearing, it advertently got thrown out, but they made sure we left with some! Plus, they have childfren's chopsticks and these great building toy things to keep them occupied.

More
Wazwan is a fantastic, inexpensive food-court style Indian food take-out place. This is not a restaurant, but for cafeteria style Indian food, it is every bit as good as the sit-down restaurants in Berkeley. I particlarly like their Tandoori Chicken. It's always tender, never dry, done just the way I like it. The food is always tasty and the portions are generous.
The only drawback is the mob-scene in the Emeryville Public market which presents a problem: Once you get your food (in styrofoam clam-shells, on plastic cafeteria trays) where do you sit? Sometimes its so busy you need a strategy such as having one person sit down and save a table while the other orders the food. The alternative is walking around with your food tray looking for a free, clean table. ( I have bad memories of sitting at a table that hadn't been cleaned yet, with one or two messy eaters sill sitting there, slurping their noodles. ) If you can manage this, you can manage the Public Market food scene. The same thing is true for all the restaurants at the Emery-Bay Public market.
The Public Market is a good spot to grab some food before going to the UA- Emery Bay Theater next door, or the AMC-Bay Street Cinemaplex down the road a half mile away.
Finally a note to parents with screaming kids: The Public market is your kind of place. They have a kid-friendly ball room filled with plastic balls. The noise level of the market place is so high that no-one will hear your screaming toddler.
PROS: Great Tandoori Chicken, Indian Curries
CONS: Emeryville Public Market mob scene.

The Grand Lake Farmer's Market is a wonderful neighborhood spot. It has tons of organic produce, at very good prices; a lot of specialized things like "the mushroom guy" and of course the Kettle Korn booth; gifts and knick-knacks; the Oaklandish booth; a lot of pre-made food which often includes DELICIOUS French food, awesome Afghan cuisine, and drool-worthy "Shakespearean desserts;" and live music, and just everything. It's a great place to run into people, have brunch, and do some really cheap and healthy grocery shopping. And there are samples of practically everything. Plus, it's year-round!
