It's not my favorite place to eat here, but the food was good and prepared right in front of us! I had the Walnut Prawn ($7.69), which had way too much mayo sauce on it (gross me out) but it was good. The vegetable tempura ($3.50) was yummy and my girl liked her Pan Fried Noodles ($7.49). Overall, this is a great place to try when you're in the Market if you're in the food for teriyaki or tempura.

Wazwan is a fantastic, inexpensive food-court style Indian food take-out place. This is not a restaurant, but for cafeteria style Indian food, it is every bit as good as the sit-down restaurants in Berkeley. I particlarly like their Tandoori Chicken. It's always tender, never dry, done just the way I like it. The food is always tasty and the portions are generous.
The only drawback is the mob-scene in the Emeryville Public market which presents a problem: Once you get your food (in styrofoam clam-shells, on plastic cafeteria trays) where do you sit? Sometimes its so busy you need a strategy such as having one person sit down and save a table while the other orders the food. The alternative is walking around with your food tray looking for a free, clean table. ( I have bad memories of sitting at a table that hadn't been cleaned yet, with one or two messy eaters sill sitting there, slurping their noodles. ) If you can manage this, you can manage the Public Market food scene. The same thing is true for all the restaurants at the Emery-Bay Public market.
The Public Market is a good spot to grab some food before going to the UA- Emery Bay Theater next door, or the AMC-Bay Street Cinemaplex down the road a half mile away.
Finally a note to parents with screaming kids: The Public market is your kind of place. They have a kid-friendly ball room filled with plastic balls. The noise level of the market place is so high that no-one will hear your screaming toddler.
PROS: Great Tandoori Chicken, Indian Curries
CONS: Emeryville Public Market mob scene.

This theatre has free parking, stadium seating and the international food court in its backyard. The only downside is that the movies tend to be a little older.

was out and about and had not been to this market place in a loooonnnnggg time. We walked by and they gave a sample. It was tasty. We cruised the market. A different taste of food for every day of the week. Too many choices. But the taste of lamb was on our lips. So we got lunch time special. A gyro , fries (or salad) and drink. It was great .well seasoned not overly on a pita bread. It is a Greek burrito. Fries were a bit like Mc'D's (but thicker and better.)They serve dolma and baklava. The baklava is great .it is soft crunchy dough with almonds honey, sugar and cinnamon a great Greek pastry... Good customer service and fast. Give this a try.
Pros: great greek food
Cons: in food mall

The food is so good at this restaurant that I don't understand why I don't have to wait for a table! Maybe the exterior turns some people off (weeds in parking lot), but the decor inside (quiet booths, a rarity in the Bay Area, and great sushi bar) and the superb food makes for a relaxing and very enjoyable evening. We love to eat here with friends who we want to enjoy really good food in a quiet, comfortable, attractive atmosphere-with moderate prices! You can get a wonderful dinner with drinks for $25! If you add sushi-and yes, we do-it is a more, but well worth it. The sushi is attractivly presented (creative-like the Lion King Roll or the Cherry Blossom or the Caterpiller Roll, plus familiar items like the Lambada) and the sashimi is always fresh and good. I have eaten here with small groups and groups as large as 10-no problem, even for non-raw fish eaters! My husband is hard of hearing, but in a booth, he has no trouble hearing! It is possible to call ahead and order speciality sushi/seafood items, or have your own signature dish re-created to your order. (I have a friend who does this.) I don't eat deep-friend food, but my friends have raved about the tempura. It is fun to try the saki sampler, and my non-drinking friends and children have also been happy with their choice of beverage. The children also like the Japanese desserts, like deep-fried ice cream and interesting ice creams. We even had happy children who were allergic to food coloring and had never had Japanese food before. (The teriyaki appeals to everyone, and our children like the fried rice and California Rolls-crab and avocado) Our children also like the large sushi bar and friendly sushi chef!
Pros: Great , well-prepared food and ample proportions; quiet booths for visiting
Cons: Parking front and back could be confusing. Little hard to get into parking lot (which needs attention)
