We had dinner at Dakota Cafe on Friday night. The restaurant is located in historic downtown Ellensburg, about 5 minutes from the freeway. The menu has a good variety foods, including pasta, chicken, fish and steak. We were served 2 different types of bread during dinner, and the white sourdough bread was possibly the best bread that anyone at the table had ever eaten! Dinners were moderately priced ($10-$20) and the food was very good. The servers seemed to know several of the other patrons, and did not pay much attention to our table.

What a discovery in the heart of historic Ellensburg. The Dakota Cafe is warm and quaint--the decor is horse and cowboy pictures but in a classy, modern setting with lots of room. Fresh, mid-price menu. I wasn't joking about the warm, freshly baked sourdough bread...best I've ever had! Only the service was lacking.

The Dakota Café used to be a cookie joint called Sweet Memories. When they changed to the Dakota Café, they added some other food items to their menu such as steaks, seafood, chicken, soups, pasta salads, green salads, and sandwiches. Their prices are very reasonable. The food is great and the staff is very friendly. This is a good place to go when you are going to eat out.
