Sunset Books is a small bookstore that can be described as quite cozy. The owner and workers are all extremely friendly and helpful, and considering the small size of the store, there is a relatively good collection of books that one can purchase. They sell used books, too, at discount prices, so if you have time to shift through the shelves of used books, you might be able to walk away with a great new read for a really low price.

Shock's always has a great selection of flower arrangements and gifts. There is a greenhouse on site. The floral shop is attached to a cute little gift shop area. When you drive by, you can see the specials on the sign out front. They put up reminders for prom flowers and Mother's Day flowers.

The owners of Larkin Floral are a nice local family. They are always pleasant and have a good selection of flowers and gifts. I have had several nice arrangements made up. Their location has changed a few times in the last couple of years, but it is the same people in the same general area. They have something to offer for everyone and every occasion.

Card N' Camera has been in the Elgin area for as long as I can remember. They downsized a couple of years ago, but they still offer good photo developing/reprints and a decent selection of gifts and collectibles. You can tell the difference in quality between Card N' Camera and other local one hour and two day processors.

A nice place to browse and find something unexpected and affordable! This small antique/crafts marketplace always has something new. I make it a point to visit every Christmas season for the many holiday ornaments and specialties. It is small enough that you can make it through the whole building without spending too much time. And you can find a gift for just about anyone, including yourself! Great variety; creative gifts, specialty coffees/candles, etc. All price ranges, service adequate (depends on the individuals that day). Recommend for treasure hunting!

The Scrapbook Lodge has everything you could possibly need to complete your scrapbooks. They also sell supplies for card making and other crafts along similar lines. The amount of papers and stickers available is almost overwhelming, but you will find what you are looking for. Their cropping space is huge and you never feel crowded. The have all night crops for the diehards or six hour ones for those who need sleep. They also offer classes for a nominal fee, but sometimes have free make and takes. Call them for more info about it.

Fox Valley Internet offers Motorola Wireless Canopy Broadband Internet service at three different service levels starting at $25/month which includes free email addresses and server space. You get use of their equipment for free, there is a one time start up fee, and you can either install the equipment yourself (it is mounted on your roof) or pay for them to install it. This is a great option if you cannot get broadband, cable internet, or DSL in your area. I have had no issues with service being down since subscribing to Fox Valley Internet. It's the only way to surf the net.
