A few years ago, Gail Borden Library was your average library. The books that it held could probably be found at just about every other library around, and there was nothing special at all about the facilities. That changed. Now, after being re-built across the street, Gail Borden Library truly is something special. Architecturally the building is splended, and the interior does not disappoint, either. The layout is great and well-organized. There is plenty of room for sitting and studying, for browsing aisles, for using computers. The book selection is still comparable to other libraries, but that's alright--Elgin has a gem with this library, which truly brings a sense of magnificence to the city.

This is a wonderful library for children! I was amazed when I saw the play area in the children's section of the library, that was great to keep my 3 year old occupied while I searched for my books. You can check out much more than books here too! You can borrow toys, games, and videos too!

This is the most beautiful library I have ever visited. Inside or outside you can tell no expense was sparred. The kids area is the best. Art projects, play area, aquariums-everything is available to make sure kids enjoy their visit. The adult is upstairs The layout is great. New releases and movies are downstairs.
