Of all the riverboats, Grand Victoria in Elgin is my favorite. It's colorful & fun, and they have a huge selection of slots, which is what I'm there for. Other casino's I've been to don't have such nice players - they're too crowded & people are bumping into you (something you don't want to happen at a casino). But Grand Victoria is not like that. I would definitely like to go again.

Elgin Lanes is really close to my home, which makes it easier for me and the kids to visit. The bowling alley is kind of outdated, no bells and whistles (like Cosmic Bowling), but it is fun to just go and bowl a game or two and head back out. They have a small pool table and game area and also offer weekly leagues.

Espos is on Elgin's east side. They are always updating or remodeling. They offer a banquet room and birthday parties. The food at the concession stand is pretty good. There is a pro shop on site. My son and I have done the Kid/Adult league on Saturday morning. It was fun. He got a Cartoon Network bowling ball and bag. Their lane fees are the cheapest in the area. Cosmic bowling is available at certain times also.

Hemmens Cultural Center offers live concerts, art shows, and numerous other productions. Their acoustics are said to be the best in the region. It is home to the Elgin Symphony Orchestra. I remember having my dance recitals there as a kid. Blue's Clues Live was here and the kids rocked the house. Check out the schedule, there is something for everyone!

I stopped off for a movie, and was greeted by the nicest people. The movie prices are comparable for other movie houses. The popcorn was popping fresh...though it was a weekday afternoon...so too bad for the people coming later at night. Overall an enjoyable experience and nice seating.
