My 2005 TDI Jetta wagon was smoking black smoke with the check engine light on. One dealer I took it to missed the problem. I was traveling to the Seattle area and checked these dealer reviews. Campbell Nelson seemed to have the least number of complaints so I called for an appointment with them. They worked me into their schedule when I wanted to be there. The service writers were very professional and very interested in my explanation of what was going on. The crew was able to think and work "outside the box" to find and fix the problem. I was back on the road ahead of schedule. Very nice folks throughout. Great job

Can I have negative stars?? I have been using Campbell nelson for a few years now, although I did not purchase my car there. So far on more than one occassion I have had the service department do work that really was not necessary. I had my car in for service in August 2006 for a loss of power issue. This amounted to a cleaning of the intake for $1000. The day I picked the car up I drove home and had the check engine light come on again !!, so back to the dealer I went. Of course they said they missed a piece of carbon and fixed the issue for no charge. TToday I took the car in for the check engine light (again) and now they are telling me there is a totally different issue and want $450 to fix it. I talked to several other shops around town that will do the same work for about half the cost. Long story short, I was told that because I have been in so many times that there was no charge to diagnose the problem, yet when i got there to pick up the car there was a $35 charge!! DO NOT USE THIS DEALER ESPECIALLY FOR SERVICE.

I bought my current car at Campbell Nelson about 3 years ago and am pretty happy. They were willing to negotiate quite a bit on the price, although there was a definite difference in attitude towards me (female) and the male friend I took with me for moral support. My advice - always take a friend with you if possible. We ended up talking "out the door price" including all taxes and fees...otherwise you have no idea what you'll end up actually paying. Once the deal was done, you go to sign the paperwork with a different person. He was pretty pushy and seemed impatient when I started to read the contract (whatever..if I am spending thousands of dollars I get to read the contract). There were two aspects of my purchase experience that I was unhappy with: (1) there was a crack on the windshield that hadn't been visible at first (the windshield was wet) and it took about a week of me calling them before they sent me to their auto glass guy to get a replacement, and (2) they promised to give my friend a referral fee of $100 but they never sent it to him. Oh well. In all, I love my car but I'm not sure that I would buy another car from them.
