Years ago Pearl Paint was in a small cramped location down the road. It expanded into the former Modell’s Supermarket. The aisles are wide and spacious. It is easy to find what you need for every craft or art project. Go on any given day and see parents with their children searching for foam balls to represent planets in the solar system next to college students purchasing items for their painting class. They have everything you need for the budding artist, the expert or anyone inbetween. While the quality is superb, if you need something framed you are probably better waiting for Michael’s to have one of their regular 50% off framing sales.

used to buy and sell comic books at the Book Stop over 25yrs ago when I was a kid. Back then they were still on East Meadow Avenue, (it was called Newbridge Avenue at the time) at the corner of Prospect Avenue, next to what is now a sign store (used to be Abbey Rentals). I am glad to see they are still around and going strong.

I remember years ago when this location was under the name Rainbow Farms. It was dank, dark and nasty . . . but not anymore. When it was taken over by new owners they invested time and money to make the store a nice place to shop. The meat and deli are under separate ownership and the quality there is very good.

Friends of mine used The Dry Cleaner for years and when I need a new dry cleaner they suggested them. The gentleman and his son who run the shop are wonderful. At the time I traveled monthly to the West coast so I needed a fast turn around on my clothing. They always made time to take care of my orders quickly. Their prices were a little higher than the local average but you get what you pay for and at The Dry Cleaner you get quality.

Maybe it's just me, but this Payless seems to have more shoes available than the others in the area. The store is never crowded, either, which is just fantastic.

This is one of the best liquor stores in the area. There is a world-class selection here. It's hard to come here when you just want one thing because you know you'll end up leaving with more than you intended - it's hard to resist some of the unique items they have for sale here, whether it's local wine, wine from overseas, or just a new and different kind of vodka.
The prices here are very good too - and it's a great place to go to re-stock the liquor cabinet when you're running low. The aisles are bright and wide, and the staff is helpful.

So often we don’t stop and smell the flowers . . . . If you are in the neighborhood make sure to check out Oberle’s. The shop itself is set up in a converted house. If you peek behind the register you can see everyone hard at work prepping flowers and creating stunning arrangements. Off to the side you will find a wide array of beautiful plants. Outside they have pallets of plants to take home and use in your garden. If you are stopping on the eve of a holiday be prepared to wait a bit . . . the secret has gotten out about this gem of a florist. The parking lot is small and a bit awkward – park on the street for a faster get away during peak times.
