I spent the summer in East Lansing, and when I went back in January, one of my must-visits was Lou and Harry's.
They are most famous for the Gyro special ($4.99) and the HUGE drinks, but I have friends who have tried other menu items and say that I should someday break free of the gyro and try them. Among the items recommended to me have been the quesadillas and the "Thanksgiving sandwich" which contains turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. Overall a good choice, though the salad's aren't always enough to content the "less grease" people in the crowd.

I just love the vegetarian medley on the Ethiopian bread. I get a great dinner and with their discount card, it's only about $8.
It is ABSOLUTELY tremendous and quite healthy. I'm so glad I found this place.

I was introduced to How Sweet It is by getting a great gift basket by them. They have the best homemade chocolates around. The fudge is sweet but not too sugary and the chocolate covered peanuts I could eat all day. Thus the problem, thank God they have them in small bags to buy. The homemade buckeyes are a big plus too.

This is a premium ice cream store. They have many creation options. Every month they highlight a new flavor and mix to create new taste sensations.
Their small serving size is plenty as their ice cream is very creamy and rich. My personal favorite is cake batter ice cream with brownie and hot fudge stir ins. Our office has ordered their cake creations many times and have not discovered any that we don't like!
Even though it is a walk up store in the hear of MSU campus, the lines move smoothly and the staff are very helpful and move along quickly. The counter has the option of taste testing any one of their ice creams. You can taste all of them in the case should you choose to do so.. Take a look at their mix suggestions. Some of them are not to be missed.
The best ice cream place in the area.

The only Malaysian restaraunt in the Lansing area. This place is great. It is very large so you don't come out smelling like a wok.
The menu is HUGE. I mean huge, it is presented to you in a 3 ring binder. The first half is the menu, the 2nd half is photos of the malaysian dishes. Which is very useful because you probably have never heard of them before.
The portions are very large. They also offer a large selection of Chinese dishes. The service was nice and attentive.
A great addition to the Lansing area.

Flats Grill is easy to find on E. Grand River. They have some parking and the staff is friendly and fast.
They have a crazy menu full of good food. Sandwiches, Burritos, Tacos, Salads, Burgers and even desserts! And it all looks and smell good. It may be a little over priced for a college town, but lots of locals eat here too. Its well worth it.

We moved here 14 years ago and found Gourmet Village just wandering around. The day we walked in it was packed with MSU faculty and their families- mostly Asian. The food was amazing and we found dishes just as authentic as one's we had in Kowloon. We order take out so often from GV that they know us now. Confused about what to get- try the Gourmet Hot Pot or one of their house specials. They never disappoint!!

Lou and Harry's has the best homemade food in this college town. They are easy to find on E. Grand River, and there is some parking. The staff is friendly and quick to take your order.
They have really good food - subs, gyros, spinach pie all very tasty! And the price is low, even the college students can afford to eat here.
I'd recommend you try it if you are in East Lansing.
