This is a viable option for those who are not interested in using the resources available from the Lansing Community College. It really depends on how much you need to learn. For more specialized problems this place can be great but for a general overview you could end up spending a ton here. Check it out to see if this place works for you.

The MSU child development labs have a wonderful reputation and do a great job of living up to it. Students are exposed to a wide variety of learning and interactive experiences. The facility and staff are excellent. Students are cared for and met at their level. Parental participation makes the school extra special and allows involvement to make an impact both on your individual child as well as on the center at large. The school works on a co-op basis which also helps to keep the cost down. I highly recommend the Lab!

I went to Michigan State University from 1987 to 1991. I absolutely loved my experience there. It's a very large school but there are so many opportunities to make it smaller by joining groups or making friends in dorms. I stayed in the dorms for 2 years and I'm glad I did. I made a lot of friends and never felt isolated in an apartment somewhere off campus. I also joined a sorority in my sophomore year. What a great thing that was. I joined one where I felt comfortable and didn't feel that I had to look a certain way or have lots of money. I enjoyed it immensely!!! The stereo types are inaccurate. We had absolutely no hazing. In fact, we were treated really well as pledges. I would recommend it. There are very few people who wouldn't fit into one of the many houses on campus.

Our family has gone to Ice Sports in East Lansing many times for skating and have always enjoyed it tremendously. The facility is very nice and is always well maintained. Rentals of skates available and they also have equipment available for sale. The pricing is a bit on the high side, although it is par for the course as far as what most rinks charge and it is a fun outing. Lessons are also available at this location which my children have greatly enjoyed.

This is seriously the BEST DEAL in town. You just have to find the right girl/guy. You can ask the receptionist to give you a student who is usually booked or someone with more experience if you are scared to have a newbie work on your hair.
HOWEVER their school is amazing and teaches their students really well and they practice on real people before they let them out on the floor.
The girl I was paired with did a fantastic job highlighting and low lighting my hair. I was paying almost THREE TIMES as much money to get my hair done at a "professional" salon. When this girl did it, my hair turned out FIVE TIMES better than the other salon and for a fraction of the cost.
I recently got a haircut by her as well and it turned out GREAT! I won't go anywhere else. She's also fun and outgoing and great to talk to.
I HIGHLY recommend asking your friends who go there or people you know who have had good experiences there or even the receptionist who they recommend. It is worth your time and your dollar!
Pros: Best Value in Town & Really Friendly Service
Cons: Some are just learning but you can ask for someone more exp.

More
I am acutely aware that it is only a matter of time before I lose my hair. My family genetics are against me and it’s practically inevitable. I figure while I’ve got it, I might as well make sure it looks halfway decent. The other problem is that I’m an intolerable cheapskate and do not like to spend too much money on things like my hair, even with its days numbered.
In college I found the wonderful balance that is known as the cosmetology school. At Douglas J, you get the opportunity to let enthusiastic young students near your head with scissors and razors. Doesn’t that sound like fun? Actually, it kind of is.
The beauty school students are under supervison from their instructors and I have yet to have a haircut go truly wrong. There will be minor inconsistencies between what you describe to the stylist and what you get, but that can be chalked up somewhat to their inexperience in translating laymen descriptions of how they want their hair to look to barber-speak. If you are truly picky about how your hair looks (like a girlfriend that I talked into going there once), you might want to skip the minor-leagues and go straight to the pros. However, for someone who is a little less particular about his or her melon, it’s a great value for $11. The service includes a scalp massage, shampoo, conditioner, haircut and a second shampooing after the cut. It takes about an hour start to finish, but I find it’s a great, cheap way to have a relaxing haircut.

Country Stitches is a very nice store. They have a lot of sewing items. They have different classes you can take. Their prices are pretty reasonable. It is a large store with a lot of parking space. I would recommend this store if you are looking for something you can't find in other stores. Large selection of yarn.

If you're a Michigan State student, your choice for classroom books isn't limited. There is a bookstore on campus, two or three on the main strip of Grand River, and The College Store, which is sort of "Off the Beaten Path" on Hagadorn.
The advantage of The College Store is very apparent when you arrive. FREE PARKING ... and LOTS OF IT! Also, during home football games, they offer free parking and a free shuttle to the stadium! You can't beat that.
But enough about the parking, the store has a wide selection of text books that is accented by a huge selection of Michigan State gear, be it hats, shirts, chairs, you name it. It is truely your one stop shop for MSU text books and apparel.

The Center For Yoga is more wonderful than words can say! Gentle and soothing instructors help with yoga, with teaching relaxation, flexibility, focus, etc. There are tons of available classes, including special classes for expectant mothers, for those post partum, and for children. Reasonable prices, nice class size, and additional services like massage also offered. This is the best yoga studio that I have ever been to and I cannot recommend it more highly!

This school offers dance training for young children on up through adult classes. A variety of classes at different ability levels are offered. The studio has an intimate feel with experienced instructors who know their students. While this might not be the place for the most serious of dancers, those looking for a nice studio with a friendly feel will enjoy Ann's school of dance. Prices are extremely reasonable. Tuition can be paid monthly instead of by semester or year which is another nice benefit. The dance year is finished off with a recital.
