Not worth money. We ate there for Easter had sit down dinner and food was a major disappointment . Check google reviews. more

Consistantly good food with a beautiful view 5/8/2010

Bon Appetit in Dunedin and the Columbia restaurant in Ybor City are our very favorite eating establishments south of the Mason-Dixon line. Nothing is perfect, but they both come as close over such a long time as anything we have seen. The food is always fresh and obviously prepared with care, concern and expertise. The wait staff has been, on the whole, better than average and a few truly shine. The prices, although not cheap, are, in our opinion, reasonable. The view is, of course, fabulous, especially at sunset. However, you must get there early if you want a window table overlooking St. Joseph Sound. Don't blame the staff if all those tables are taken or if there are some open and you don't ""ask"" to be seated at one of them. Pros: Food and service are good and the view can't be beaten Cons: Over 30 years the food has gone from fabulous to very good more

Expensive low quality food, off-putting waitstaff 5/13/2009

Went for a sunset dinner placed one member of our party not facing the view and pushy about making her sit there (there was an open seat facing the water) 3-course meal consisted of either too spicy and watery lobster bisque, or iceberg salad (w/ few pieces of mixed greens and some rotted pieces) a sophisticated sprinkling of shelled sunflower seeds and canned sliced olives. Lamb lacked much meat served with tacky jello green mint jelly, salmon was done well but smallish portion, sweet potato croquette so fried and cinnamon and sugary more like a donut. Raspberry puree dessert tasted like jam would've been good with a biscuit lol. Waiter was so pushy and quietly lingered for much too long at our table. Not satisfied for 20 person a pop meal Pros: Bay views Cons: service, food more

Horrible 1/31/2009

Let me preface this whole review by saying i have been in some of the best restaurants around the world. I have never been treated so rudely as I was treated at Bon Appetit. I had a party of 3 plus my infant son out to dinner for my mother's birthday. When we arrived at the restaurant my son was beginning to fall asleep. I asked if it would be ok to bring his stroller in so he could sleep. I was told that would be no probelm. The gentleman escorting us to our table even moved a chair away so the stroller would fit nicely at the table. All of a sudden this man came over(I am assuming it was the owner or manager) and proceeded to put his hands on my baby's stroller with my son in it and begin to move the stroller. When we asked what he was doing, he said he does not want the stroller in there and it was going to be moved. This is when he started to move the stroller away on his own. I am sure anybody with children can relate to how upset they would be if a complete stranger walked up and started to move your stroller with your baby in it. All he needed to do was ask us to move the stroller and we would have been happy to comply, but to rudely tell us it WILL be moved and then proceed to do it himself... is wrong. We left the restaurant and I will never go back. There are way too many better restaurants in the area to have to put up with that owner's attitude and arrogance. more

Poor Customer Service! 4/2/2008

Had a bridal shower for my best friend here and was slapped with a bill that we weren't expecting - we were charged additional for iced beverages even though they were on our ""set fee"" menu that was pre-negotiated. We questioned the bill and the catering manager rudely told us there was nothing she WOULD do about it and unless we could produce our contract for her to review we needed to pay up right away. Then she (Luanne) proceeded to approach the bride and ask her what we (the hostesses) were going to do to pay the bill! OMG!! While we were getting our payment together, the catering manager then stood with the waitstaff gossiping on what our situation was, pointing and sneering our direction. Mind you, we were more than able to pay the bill, however there was definitely an air of superiority being cast our way - like we were unable to pay. Not the case, we just wanted to pay the negotiated amount plus gratuity. OUR SERVICE BY OUR WAITRESS WAS WONDERFUL HOWEVER (wanted to point that out...).However, I will never visit this restaurant again or recommend it to anyone. more

The food and view are great but they don't have any customer serivce!! 4/2/2008

We had a wedding shower there and everything went well until the bill came. There was a discrepancy with the total and when we brought it their attention they didn't help. They claim they went to the owner Peter Kreuziger and he wouldn't do anything. The last time I checked we were the customer. That will be the last time I ever do business with them. \r Where's the customer service???Not at Bon Appetit! more

BEST FOOD EVER!!! 5/14/2007

Fresh Fruit and Berries with Vanilla Mint Syrup - The colors were quite inviting & the syrup was not 2 sweet, or overwhelming; but, just the right blend to enhance the fruit's flavors. A Special Salad Tossed in Bon Appetit Dressing - The salad was designed with fresh, crisp butter lettuce, Romaine and spinach leaves adorned with a sprinkling of sunflower seeds and black olives. Alligator Pate with Marinated Vegetables - The pate was firm and tasty, and became a true work of art when dipped in the pink sauce that was unbelievably succulent! The vegetables were perfectly prepared. Filet Mignon Set on Potato Cakes w/Gorgonzola Butter & Merlot Glaze, including Fresh Vegetables and Sweet Potato Croquette and an Abundance of Bread & Butter - A waitress brings fresh bread and real butter to you; but, don't eat more than one, or you might be too full to eat all of the other truly divine dishes. The filet was the most tender, delicious, dreamy morsel of food that I've ever placed in my mouth. My mouth is watering now as I just think about how marvelous that filet tasted. It was a huge filet, too--at least 8 oz's.--more likely 10 oz.'s. It had been covered with a merlot glaze that was just right--it didn't overwhelm the natural taste of the filet--it just added the tiny bit of accompaniment that made the entree sing in harmony. On top of the filet perched enough Gorgonzola Butter 2 eat with each succulent bite. The filet sat on flattened potato cake. The Sweet Potato Croquette could have been on the dessert menu. It was sweet and the outside covering was crunchy and mouth-wateringly delicious. The fresh vegetables were perfectly steamed. Hazelnut coffee and a Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri - the Daiquiri was a bit sweet for me (as I've gotten older, it seems like things taste a bit too sweet for me). The hazelnut coffee was not bitter--it was creamy. Bon Appetit Chocolate Mousse with Pirouline Wafer - It was creamy, sweet & had whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. Pros: Ambience, Valet parking, large picture windows of sunset, on water, pelicans & sea gulls, live piano music, white linen service Cons: Tiny complaint - Service was a little bit slow; but, it was on a very busy Mother's Day dinner night, and everyone was extremely polite and respectful! more

Nice Veiw 1/8/2006

It's true the ocean view is wonderful, the dinning room is formal and elegant. But we found the food was overpriced and bland, void of flavor. The food was a big letdown for me I expected better food for the price. The wait staff was just lukewarm we felt rushed. Unfortunately we won't be going back to this restaurant. Pros: veiw, decor Cons: food, staff more

Thanksgiving Buffet 11/27/2005

I dined at the restaurant for the Thanksgiving buffet. After receiving rave reviews about the restaurant, I decided that even though the buffet price was quite high ($32.95 plus tax, plus 20% tip), the food should be good. Boy, was I wrong - the entire meal was a disaster. The food was terrible and the waitstaff were rude. They even charged extra for iced tea and coffee. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. This was the worst dining experience ever. more

Diamond in Dunedin 9/21/2005

I have always had an overall wonderful dinning experience here. From wedding recpetions to dinner dates and brunches on the veranda; the food, service and atmostphere are at the top of my list in Pinellas County! more
