My three kids and I went to Niki's for lunch. (Not a fun task to begin with). We were greeted at the door by one of the servers who offered to help me with my stroller. Our waiter sat us right away and got our drinks out right away. I was trying to decide if I should get the flaming cheese and the server said it was great and the kids would like seeing it in flames. When he brought it out, it was quite an awesome production. Very cool!!! The kids loved it (the show, they didn't actually like the cheese). We ordered the chicken strips a pizza. The pizza was awesome. Very cheesey and a wonderful crust. The chicken strips were probably some of the best we have had. They were perfect for the kids.
Our waiter was WONDERFUL. Helpful, fast and very attentive. He even offered to help me carry my food out the door until I got my stroller set up.
I definitely didn't think of Niki's as a kid friendly place, but after eating there, I think they are WONDERFUL for kids. THANK you!!!!!
Pros: Flaming Cheese! Great Service!
Cons: pizza may be a little too cheesy? If that's possible

This place is totally overrated. If you're looking for cheap drinks and a good time you can do better elsewhere around downtown. If you're looking for an incredibly yuppie crowd and high drink prices then the Town Pump is for you.
Last time I was there was during a tigers game and the place was packed with yuppies and drink prices were exorbitant. The crowd was very homogenous and the bar didn't have the cool ballgame vibe that a place like the Old Shillelagh or Nemos has.

My boyfriend took me here to celebrate Valentine's Day (we went a few days early to avoid crowds). He had been here before with friends, and they all thought the food was excellent.
The wine list was extensive, and I loved the Michigan Riesling I ordered. The salad bar was good, everything was fresh and there were a variety of dressings. For my entree, I ordered the Hawaiian mahi-mahi with coconut macadamia and lime marinade (one of the specials). It was probably one of the BEST pieces of fish I've had in my life. My boyfriend, who usually dislikes fish, had a taste and said, "Wow, next time I'm getting the fish!" He ordered a Filet Mingon, which he said was also excellent. Our waitress was very attentive, the hostess and valet were also very friendly. I'll definitely be returning to Laffrey's.
Pros: Excellent food, great service
Cons: Wallpaper looked a bit dated.

I attended Wayne State from 1997 to 2001 and I have to say I found it to be an excellent school. I lived in the apartments and was active in various student activities. I had tons of fun, just because it is mostly a commuter school does not mean that you can't really take advantage of student life. The education I received was top notch. They are a research school, which means you have the opportunity to participate in ongoing research, even sometimes at the undergrad level. I felt that my professors truely cared about my education. Check it out, Wayne does not get the credit they deserve for being a great school.

THE CHARLES H WRIGHT MUSEUM OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY IS AN EXCELLENT PLACE TO LEARN ABOUT AFRICAN AMERICANS. THE EXHIBIT TRACES 400 YEARS OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY. FURTHERMORE IT SHOWS AT THE AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURE. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT PLACE FOR LEARNING. THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY. AND THE PRICES ARE FAIR. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MUSEUM TO MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

This place is an absolute must visit if you are a fan of pottery or tile or of the Arts & Crafts movement in general. Try to visit during regular business hours so that you can see the artisans at work (it's a small, self-guided tour). Upstairs is a small exhibit of pottery from the Pewabic collection. You can get just about anything they make in the shop (and they also sell a nice selection of tile frames) at quite fair prices. One of the bests things, though, is that they also have a large selection of tiles from other artists, many of them local. If you're a fan of decorative tiles, you'll be like a kid in a candy store (I haven't been anywhere of this type with such a great selection). I had a very hard time narrowing down my purchases. Everyone is friendly, from the parking attendant to the people in the retail shop. It's a bit of an off the beaten path location, but it's easy to find, and is convenient if you're planning to be driving along the lake front.

The Chargers had a fundraiser at this spot about six months ago. The waitstaff was so friendly and helpful. They made our fundraiser a total success, and we will definately do another fundraiser here. It has a mature crowd, but yet down to earth.

The Detroiter Bar is really good and has good drinks. My friend likes to take his pants off in the summer while sitting in their killer outdoor seating area. The House Special will give you some fierce heartburn but it's worth it. Look out for evil robots because they can be troublesome. I give the Detroiter bar 10 thumbs up. LOL :)
