Metro Times is a great weekly free paper in the Detroit area, listing all the goings-on in the area. They have great articles as well. I read it to see which local bands are playing at my favorite locations, and when I can see them next. It's a great resource for planning your weekend. There's also restaurant reviews, movie listings and classified ads.
I have noticed lately though that they are not as easy to find, I'm not sure if business no longer wish to have them in their locations, or if Metro Times themselves chose to remove them.

This store is located in the amazing Guardian Building retail promenade. The location makes for great sightseeing and good shopping all in one.
The items in the store vary from book to postcards to t-shirts and more. Prices are moderately expensive, but you cannot find some of the items at other stores.
It makes a good gift shop and a store for Detroit historians. The store seems to be geared toward hip teens.
The staff are friendly.

CVS has good prices, good stuff, and something for everyone. It has toys, candy, cosmetics, and a whole bunch more. But! I just today bought a candy bar from CVDS and it was all wierd colored because of heat exposer. I had eaten THREE PEICES before i realized it wasn't supposed to be tan and white colored too. EW. There was probly more in the chocolate and candy isle that have heat exposer too. So the stuff is good, and well priced, but watch out for some of the chocolate!

Pet Smart is the smart place to shop for pets stuff! Food, beds, cages, toys, Pet Smart has a LOT of essential things for a pet, and helpful staff too. The service is good, and it's got the best pet food brands, a variety of treats, for all kinds of pets, and toys, especially if your looking for small animal toys, like a rabbit, hamster, or guinea pig. Iv'e noticed they have a lot of those.

This establishment has got a very good infrastructure. I was amazed by the size and amenities that they have got in this small town. It definitely is world class. They do charge a bit more than their counterparts in and around the city but for the service they provide I think it is justified. They have equipments for all ages. They also have a childcare center where you can leave your kids while you workout. Their Jacuzzi is big and can accommodate ten people at a time. That is something wonderful.

There was a big group going down to State Theatre to see "Green Day" so I
gave in and let my daughter Stacie go. In 1997 her ticket cost her only $17.00
which wasn't bad for a pretty hot band. She had the balcony seats and I heard
how great it was for days after. This area of Detroit on Woodward is pretty well
lit up and busy. Had she wanted to go alone I would have had to say no.
