This non-profit organization provides the best tours of Detroit, hands down.
Every weekend their tour changes to ones such as the Skyscraper Tour, and Eastern Market Tour.
The price is quite good and helps ensure preservation of the buildings in Detroit.
Tour guides are friendly and informative. Groups are very very small.
The tour is great detailing all the information about the buildings.
All tours are walking tours.

Having the opportunity to go there the other night, I was very very impressed with the Alley Grille Steakhouse. First off, the setting and decor is very very romantic - dim lights, piano player, wood paneling, well dressed staff). They have a great wine list (I recommend the David Bruce Pinot Noir) and a great menu with a wide selection of delicious food. I had the Prime Rib, which had a bit too much fat on it, but otherwise was very delicious and matched well with my selection of vino.
The staff here is seriously amazing. Our waitress always came at exactly the right times and the busboys removed our plates/dishes the second that we were done with them. The staff here works like a finely oiled machine.
The prices are on the high side, for wine and food expect to pay in the ~$80 range add desert and tip and you're in the $120 range. Nonetheless, this is the perfect place to take a date, although I'm not sure I'd recommend it for a first date.

Clean, quiet, convienent location. Very accomodating and helpful staff. The hotel is well laid out and easy to navigate. The breakfast buffett is a bit limited but very good and very well priced. I would recommend this as both business and pleasure.

This hotel is PERFECT if you need to stay in/near the Detroit Airport! I was expecting just another tacky hotel plopped in the middle and it was far from it! They did an amazing job making you feel like you are in a seperate place all together! It's very hip and stylish for a airport hotel and that's perhaps why it's my favorite. Not to mention they have a seperate entrance into the airport so you don't have to go with the masses. All around I recommend this hotel.
Pros: Location, location, location
Cons: none

Iridescence is the best restaurant in Detroit. The food is fantastic (we stopped by the kitchen to thank the chefs afterward), the service is attentive, and the atmosphere is wonderful. It's also expensive, but it's not the cost--it's the value.
Iridescence is a value. The cuisine is sophisticated, fresh, local, and largely organic. After the opening amuse bouche (smoked trout crostini) we had two appetizers: butternut squash risotto, and Wagyu beef skewers. Both were excellent, although the risotto was the better of the two: creamy Arborio rice, with diced butternut squash, and savory cheese (maybe a touch of truffle?). Delectable.
We then had the cranberry and beet tian. This was a complex dish, with layers of tart flavor. The goat cheese, cranberry, and beet combination is a strong flavor. I would gladly order this again; it's so refreshing.
For entrees, we had the Beef Wellington, and the Sea Bass Lau Lau. Both plates are exquisite: beautiful presentation, particularly the Sea Bass. The staff really shone here, plating and presenting the two dishes in a well-choreographed manner, assisted by the sous chef.
The Sea Bass was cooked perfectly: delicate flakes of fish scented with ginger and lemon grass. This is a subtle dish, nicely accented with the steamed baby bok choy.
The Beef Wellington is awesome. Frankly, it was better than the Waygu beef in the appetizer. Cooked rare, robustly flavorful, topped with a delicious pate, wrapped in a delicious pastry. The bernaise topping just puts it over the top: fresh, tangy counterpoint to the richness of the beef. This is the better of the two dishes.
Dessert was the afore-mentioned Slice and coffee. The Slice is a new combination of flavors (for me), a wonderful amalgamation of chocolate mousse, macadamia nuts, tropical fruit, and vanilla custard, all covered in a rich dark chocolate ganache. Strong flavors, but complementary.
Overall, a winner from start to finish.
Pros: Outstanding, sophisticated cuisine, wonderful service, cool ambience
Cons: None

I can not belive that the most COMFOTABLE hotel I have EVER stayed in was The Westin at the airport in Detroit Michigan! More comfortable than some very nice hotels I have stayed in before such as the Gritti Palace in Italy! The hotel is gorgeous, the beds are like heaven, and the desserts are to die for. STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

This enormous hotel offers many discounts if you know who to ask. We were lucky enough to get a $99 rate for our team when we traveled there for a game. It always hosts athletic teams and it's in the heart of downtown, so you can walk everywhere. You can also look out your window and see Canada.

A friend of mine returned from a flight using Air Tran airlines and said there is a rewards promotion going on with Wendy's fast food. I eat at Wendy's a lot,so hopefully my drinks can earn me points to a free airline ticket! She said the plane is a little cramped when you fly coach and make sure you eat before you fly as they don't serve meals, but hey...maybe you can stop by a Wendy's before going to the airport! Here is their website: www.airtran.com/wendys_offer.aspx

I was very happy with the service I received from the Doubletree in Dearborn. They went out of their way to make me happy and had an excellent staff. The restaurant in the hotel had excellent food too. Good choice, 12 miles from Detroit
