Let me start this way. I know Italian food, was raised and grew up with it!! I tried this place , because friends kept telling me to go there for dinner.
Here is the menu I had with my comments!!
- Salad with duck, goat and toma cheese as an appetizer: I haven't even tasted the toma cheese!!!!
- First course "Risotto alla Milanese con Gamberetti": the worst risotto I ever had, basically no zafran, too much basil and onions, and over cooked rice. Even worst the rice was not an original Carnaroli Rice as listed in the menu, but a fake arborio rice instead.
- Main course "Maiale Arrosto ai Funghi, Spinaci, Formaggio e Cipolline": acceptable in taste and preparation, but nothing special.
- Dessert "Quartetto di Caramello": pretty good, but easy to prepare.
- Wine : White Chardonnay and Barbaresco... both very good.
In summary the food taste is way below average and not even close to real and good Italian food. I would not recommend this place to anyone, it is too expensive for the price they ask. Maybe for 30$/person including wine!!!!
The wine cart is impressive and good, but that is easy to do.
Cheers!!
Pros: good wine list
Cons: no good italian food, too expensive

Barolo is a very nice environment but way out of line for the quality. It is a great location and has nice ambiance, which is why they can get away with criminal prices. We took some dear friends there for dinner for their bi rthdays. What a disappointment. Trust me, I have dined at the some of the finest in the world from the UK, France, The Mesa Grill in NYC, Marie Elaine?s in Scottsdale and have never been so insulted as at the Barolo Grill. First the scallop appetizer (1 scallop) was average for $10.00. Then I had the blue marlin (over cooked on a bed of carrots). Come on, we spent over $500.00 for a dinner for four and I had to make something decent to eat when I got home. The wine list was a bit intimidating but we picked a nice Barolo at $100.00. I have tasted better wine at $24.00 a bottle. Please save your palette and go to Zengo, Vita, or The old neighborhood restaurant in Arvada for a better meal at a much better value.
Pros: Nice ambiance
Cons: Poor quality for the value.

Food was delicious and they always kept the water full which is seems to be rarer and rarer these days even at good restaurants. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about wines and unlike most didn't sound condescending about it all. Which is always a huge turn off. Just because I have never heard of some grape from Chile that is only grown in two vineyards doesn't make me an idiot. But I digress... the wine was good but I wish they would have had more moderately priced bottles on the menu. I think they had 5 bottles under $40 but 5 pages of bottles that were over $100. Also the server "recommended" that we order way, way more food than was necessary, and people in America have hard time understanding why they are fat. You can have a half order of a Insalate e Zuppa and a half order of Primi Piatti and that is plenty of food for any rational human being. My biggest complaint though and it may be a little thing to some but this really bothers me. The pasta I ordered was supposed to have heirloom tomatoes in it but it had those flavorless little grape tomatoes in it instead. I guess they can assume that 99% of their customers wouldn't notice, but for that reason alone I would be very reluctant to return.
Pros: Good service.
Cons: Misleading about ingredients being used.

Wow!!! There is not a single thing I would change about this restaurant. That is rare for me to say. Usually there is something that missed. This restaurant is PERFECT!! Let's start as we get there. Complimentary valet parking...as we were trying to find a spot, we saw this and were excited. Little things, you know. We get in and we were missing one of our party (who didn't make it) and without missing a beat, we got sat at an appropriately sized table. This was just last night.
Now for the server, Andrew: he is getting his own paragraph. Anyone who wants to be a professional waiter, should sit at one of his tables and just observe. It was all about the little things, helping with wine selection, meal choices, everything. He understood the little nuances. When I questioned the bottle of wine, he even brought me a glass of something else to see if I liked it more. It turned out, the bottle was very young and just needed to open up. So, basically, the best waiter in town.
As for the food: Here is what was ordered: roasted tuna appetizer (absolutely phenominal-although Randolph's wraps are more to my tastes), the gnocchi with crab (absolutely amazing), NY Strip Steak (amazing by all accounts), Halibut (simply perfect) and my meal the seafood plate. This was the best meal, I have ever had in Denver. I cook a lot, and I eat out a lot. This was the BEST meal I have had in Denver.
So, the long and short of it, phenomenal.
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

This is the best Northern Italian restaurant in Denver. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful on the inside other then the somewhat ugly sound proofing on the ceiling. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and the wine list and recommended two excellent wines that paired very nicely with my meal. He and the chef were accommodating when another member of my party asked to have an entree heavily modified. The bread-sticks on the table are pretty good but a bit dry. They serve them with an olive dipping sauce that is quite good, if you like olives. The rosemary focaccia bread is very good but they only give you one small piece for each diner and you have to ask for butter and/or olive oil. The Antipasti Assortiti appetizer is phenomenal, with a wonderful assortment of three perfect tasting meats. For a main course, the braised duckling is rightfully their specialty. The portion is actually quite large and a good value at the price. The duck is excellently seasoned and braised with a highly complimentary olive based sauce. The accompanying small square roast potatoes are divine. The creme brulee is an excellent desert and is enough for between 2-4 people to share, making it a good value. I will definitely recommend this to anyone seeking the best high end dining experience in Denver.
Pros: Excellent Food, Knowledgeable and accommodating wait-staff, Beautiful ambience
Cons: They don't give olive oil/ butter with bread unless requested

I took my girlfriend out for a romantic dinner just because we hadn't been out in a while. We sat right in front of the fireplace at my request. Every course was delicious. The wine list was HUGE, and they had several experts on hand to answer any questions you had concerning the the list and helping to guide you in the right direction.
I would go there again, and would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a nice evening out and isn't afraid to pay a little more for it.
Pros: Food, Service, Staff, Atmosphere
Cons: A little pricey
