I was just looking for Alto's phone number (for yet another reservation) and noticed this very negative review. My four visits to Alto have been uniformly excellent so I'm surprised with the other reviewer's report.
The food at Alto is creative without being too far out. They pour a generous glass of wine and the wine list for reasonably priced wines is outstanding. Of course, the live music is a treat and frankly, Alto's prices don't seem to reflect the added cost of the musicians.
If you like live music and great food with well trained servers, I recommend you check Alto out.

I've been going to Angelo's for 20 years. It is very good American-Italian food of an old-fashioned variety. They have quality ingredients, delicious red sauce, a nice variety of menu items other than their fine pizza & calzones, wonderful salads. Nice patio, nice table wine, friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere inside.
Pros: Great patio, good variety of good affordable food
Cons: none!

I've only tried their thin crust and I'll stick with that thank you very much. Anthony's is the standard by which other thin crust pizza places in Denver are measured. There are a couple of other places in town but Anthony's is my favorite for NY style and my default delivery and go out place. Some Anthony's employees can be on the cranky side (having visited multiple locations). If you visit watch them throw the dough in the air. I can't remember the last place in town you could see that. Way cool.
PROS: Best NY thin crust in town - best dough throwers in town
CONS: Employees sometimes cranky

Usually don't care for pizza chains, so today was the first time I tried Anthony's....LOVED the pizza! Got the thin crust w/ my own toppings - meatball, tomato and mushrooms and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Esp loved the fresh tomatoes and really crispy crust. Will definitely be back! Went to the Stapleton restaurant & am looking for others near home.

This is one of the best places to go get good pizza. It's always fresh and cheap. The best nights to go to is on Monday or Wednesday nights after eight o'clock, because it is only a dollar a slice! So if you want pizza and not spend a lot of money go there!

Anthony's is by far the closest thing to authentic thin crust NY Pizza. Straight out of the oven you will get a hot, crispy, delicious piece of pizza. We don't eat pizza anywhere else in Denver.

Wow!!! There is not a single thing I would change about this restaurant. That is rare for me to say. Usually there is something that missed. This restaurant is PERFECT!! Let's start as we get there. Complimentary valet parking...as we were trying to find a spot, we saw this and were excited. Little things, you know. We get in and we were missing one of our party (who didn't make it) and without missing a beat, we got sat at an appropriately sized table. This was just last night.
Now for the server, Andrew: he is getting his own paragraph. Anyone who wants to be a professional waiter, should sit at one of his tables and just observe. It was all about the little things, helping with wine selection, meal choices, everything. He understood the little nuances. When I questioned the bottle of wine, he even brought me a glass of something else to see if I liked it more. It turned out, the bottle was very young and just needed to open up. So, basically, the best waiter in town.
As for the food: Here is what was ordered: roasted tuna appetizer (absolutely phenominal-although Randolph's wraps are more to my tastes), the gnocchi with crab (absolutely amazing), NY Strip Steak (amazing by all accounts), Halibut (simply perfect) and my meal the seafood plate. This was the best meal, I have ever had in Denver. I cook a lot, and I eat out a lot. This was the BEST meal I have had in Denver.
So, the long and short of it, phenomenal.
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

Had a fabulous experience in Baur's yesterday. I a lamb dish, which included house cured Lamb bacon, wow! It was to die for. Also, my service was top notch. You can really tell the manager knows what the customer needs. Never had a empty water glass, the staff was very attentive. The wine list a++. KUDOS.
Pros: Everything
Cons: Weren't any

We're from Vegas, and have traveled the world tasting food from various hotels and privately owned restaurants. We got the special when we were at Bravo! and this short Asian guy was our cook for the night. We were watching him cook through the open kitchen. The food was amazing! Later found out from other sources, that it was his recipe and his special for the night. I asked for seconds.
Truely, this young kid knows his food, spices, and how to entice emotions from his cooking. I can only call him . . . Dr. Watson...bringing chemistry into his food.
Watson elevated Italian cuisine, brought it east, and presented it with bravado unexpected in a chef so unheralded, so young, so . . . Watson is pulling punches on the flavors that established his brand in the future. I hope this kid keep up his cooking and bring us more flavorful food that taps into our emotions.
I went back the next night and he was not working. I would have to say the food was only average. Is this even an Italian Restaurant? Who came up with that menu? Where is that special I am craving for?
Pros: Great Specials from a cook Watson! Very artistic and kind kid.
Cons: Doesn't have an Italian Menu. Not really Italian unless it's the Specials.
