I took my wife out to dinner last night for a special night out. We went to this restaurant called strings. It is down on 17th and Humboldt by St. Josephs Hospital. This place had a great atmosphere and the food was wonderful as well. The staff was friendly, and our waiter was always there to answer our questions. My glass never got less than half full before someone would come and refill it. It was great. It was a little on the pricey side, but not too ridiculous. All in all, it was worth it to spend time in a nice environment with my wife.

I love the Mizithra & Brown Butter Spaghetti! I think this restaurant is a really nice place. It's reasonably priced and (thank god!) is different from all the typical restaurants downtown. Also, the staff are always friendly to us and the manager has thanked us personally for dining. The interior is stunning as well!
Pros: Nice food and many courses of food! Great interior...
Cons: Downtown...( I live in the suburbs) :(

A stay at the Hotel Teatro is pure luxury! It's location next to Denver's Performing Arts makes it a must for a huge treat... Valentines? The beds and linens are unforgettable...I wanted to sell the kids and spend their inheritance by living at the Teatro!

When I walked into this place with my relatives (locals) I immediately thought of Laura Ingalls Wilder in Little House on the Prairie. How wrong was I to judge a book by its cover! When my sister went to grab a number for us, we hung around the store and the Americana Barn. The kids got a real kick out of taking pictures with the brass Thomas Jefferson in front. Our table seated 8. At promptly 6 o' clock, my nephew, who is an avid diner at WFF, ran off to ride the "Pig slide" as he called it. Apparently, it is only open the first 15 minut4es of the hour, and my nephew worships it. As soon as we sat down at our long country style table, we were greeted by a nice lady wearing an checkered apron. She handed us menus and took our drink orders. My niece and nephew, who always come to WFF brought their report cards with straight As on them. The server immediately smiled and congratulated them. She stamped them with a smiley face and told my sister that they would get free kids meals! Those kids meals included potatoes, fried chicken, a drink, a sundae, and unlimited sides. (Unlimited sides come with the meal!) After we had placed our order, our waitress whipped out a bowl of fresh beets, homemade coleslaw, bean salad and decadent corn fritters. Everything was excellent. The coleslaw was the best I had ever had! Crunchy, crisp, and sour! The beets, were sweet and firm. The bean salad was different but still delicious. The corn fritters were so good, I filled up on them right as the chicken came! The chicken came on a steaming platter topped with an American flag as an added effect. The chicken is specially cooked in a steam cooker, and then friend to a crunchy crisp so it isn't oily at all! The potatoes were buttery and fluffy. My sister says that this place is like a Casa Bonita, but with actually food. Overall, the experience was great, and the kids loved it- very family friendly!
Pros: Best fried chicken and coleslaw I've ever had! Great service
Cons: reservations for people with large groups only. (20+)

This restaurant located west of Denver is the type of place you would expect to find downtown. The only difference is that parking is free and plentiful! The food is presented in a creative and way. It almost looks too good to eat. You can tell the chefs take pride in the finished product. The service is excellent. They make you feel like they are happy you walked in the door and want you to come back soon. They have a giant open kitchen which they serve fish, steaks, salads, pastas and pizzas. I have never had anything that tasted bad!

Reminiscent of 1940's casual elegance, the Denver Chop House is where I generally bring my out of town guests. famous for chops, steak and their gigantic fried onion rings, the Chop House never disappoints. The decor is very wooded and earthy feeling--lots of dark wood. The staff is friendly and they really MOVE as it gets quite busy. Expect to wait for a table if you don't have reservations, but you can always belly up to the bar while you wait for some fast service. I'm not a beer drinker, but they seem to be known for their fresh ales--at least everyone seems to be ordering them.

This is a great place to meet up with friends the beer is interesting and the food is good. The atmosphere is laid back and the dim lighting is nice. I don't think the service is top notch. It seems the wait staff is inexperienced and not customer service driven. I recommend the seared ahi appetizer! It is very good! I have also tried the titan toothpicks and the asiago cheese dip which are equally as tasty. If you're on the high carb diet go for the mac and cheese. Otherwise try the cobb salad.

This lovely downtown hotel is a great place to have a wedding. I've never stayed in their rooms, so I can't evaluate that, but I have been to a wedding there and had a drink at their bar and I was impressed by both. Their lobby will bowl you over and the room where they perform the wedding ceremonies has a mezzanine which overlooks the area. It's a great place to have your guests meet and mingle after the ceremony as their excellent staff switches the downstairs room over form ceremony to reception in a flash.
Their ceremony location is nothing to write home about, however. They have you get married on the dance floor spot and it's not very pretty and a little dark. This can be rectified by brining in your own decorations, however. And a good photographer can get some really romantic shots of you in this historic location.

They are a small facility but they have constantly changing exhibits. They have a very cool timeline of Colorado that takes up a huge part of there space. It goes into depth about interesting people and events that went on in Colorado. They also often have a traveling exhibit that is focused from something in a period of history. They also offer lectures and speakers about different Colorado events these take place in the evening.
