Hadn't been there since I was a kid! Heard it was horrible but it was worse than I imagined. Ride attendant at bumber cars was yelling at kids and kicking them off the ride, flower beds were dying (dirt was dry as a bone and looked like they hadn't been watered in weeks), the park was filthy, many rides were shut down, the parking lot was dirt, and overall this park is clearly not the pride of anyone's ownership. I would be embarrassed to say I owned this. I predict this won't last much longer. Waste of money, waste of real estate and an embarrassment to our city!

Yes, Lakeside is probably the cheapest entertainment you can find during the summer. They have a huge wooden roller coaster, plus all the other staple carnival rides. However, despite the good prices that may lure you in, I must caution you! Lakeside is OLD! It isn't the cleanest place in the world and I always wonder how some of the rides are still allowed to operate. Now that I have kids of my own, I would never go there, although it was fun to put myself at risk! You can get good carnival food there, which makes it fun to reminisce about the good 'ole days, but I wouldn't risk going on the rides!

Not your high end Disney-world clone, but anyone over 35 who remembers the small time amusement parks of your youth will find this place charming. The antique wooden roller coaster still has a few thrills left in it! This is a place where your children can roam a bit further from you than they may in larger parks without having you panic.
Good place to step back in time, play a few games, take in some nostalgia, eat "carnival food" and just enjoy the ambiance. Just don't expect it to rock your world or have top-notch technology rides. Great Sunday afternoon activity on a summer day with small kids, though.

I remember going to lakeside when I was a kid. It was alot of fun 20 years ago but now it isnt. Its good if you have young kids. Everything in the park looks like it could use some work.

From the time you drive up you can tell that Lakeside is in need of a lot of sprucing. The buildings and rides all look shabby and unclean. The saving grace for Lakeside is its reasonable price. There is a cute children's area which is worth the price for a fun afternoon outing. This area is sort of seperated from the main area which is nice for keeping the little ones away from the rowdier teens who frequent the other rides. We have found that often times many of the rides have issues like cars that don't work (thus making longer lines) and poor maintainance (some were even duct taped the last time we were there). There is a picnic area in the kids section so you can bring your own lunch.

This is a very old amusement park and it shows it's age. It tends to draw a crowd that most parents do not want their small children around, so go when school is in session. They have really cute rides for toddlers and school ages and a wonderful train. It could be cleaner and the food is something to totally pass on. Take your own and use their picnic tables.

I grew up going to Lakeside. It still has the same rides, and entertainment that I remember. It seems like the whole park could use a makeover. Every time you ride the wooden coaster, it feels like its going to break. I dont know what they do to make the money to keep that place going, because its never really busy. I hope they stay open long enough to take my kids there.

Lakeside remains as a reminder of the days when this neighborhood was a surburban outing for those that lived in the city 50 years ago. Unfortunately, much updating needs to be done, but it remains a great deal for families with young children. For only a $2 entrance fee, you get a few free rides, and then you pay only .25 or. 50 for each kiddie ride. And they have a train that goes around a lake that the kids enjoy. For older kids and adults, there are only a few rides, so the real bargain is for the little ones. Look for coupons from area schools to get free admissions.

This amusement park is a pretty good deal for the price...but there is no way I would go on the weekend. Of course, I probably wouldn't go to ANY amusement park on a Saturday or Sunday, but since this one is less expensive than Elitch's, it tends to attract more teenagers on those days, who seem to act overly silly, but I'd rather avoid it during those times so my small children can enjoy the park.

This park was a very run down park and on its last leg, but in recent years, they have completely remodeled and updated the whole look. The rides seem to be very entertaining and the food is the usual amusement park grub but the scenic train ride around the lake at sunset is absolutely breathtaking. It's definitely a must see for natives who grew up here and haven't been back since it started to decline.
