I am also not a huge basketball fan, but the Dallas Mavericks game can be quite entertaining. Be sure to watch for the Maniacs (men dressed as cheerleaders who do over the top dances). Such fun! if you can get great seats, its even better.
There are also a number of bars and entertainment venues within the American Airlines arena if you need alternate entertainment.

I do not do basketball but the Dallas Mavericks are on a roll. Very popular here in the DFW area. All the guys (and gals too for that matter) support the Mavericks all the way. Even the little kids know who the Dallas Mavericks are so hopefully they will continue to set a good example. Lots of Mavericks' type clothing to be found in the area. Support our team.

When Mark Cuban purchased the Dallas Mavericks, he made a point of emphasis to not only improve the on-court product, but the off-court, in-game entertainment aspect of the franchise as well. The result has been a more entertaining, though sometimes over-the-top experience that is like no other sporting experience here in Dallas/Fort Worth. Some of Cuban's creations are the Mavs Maniacs, a dance troup consisting of solely obese fans and the Granniacs. As the name implies, this troupe consists of all grandmas.
Like the Stars, the Dallas Mavericks play in the spacious, new American Airlines Center.
