I was craving Sushi for lunch today, and had no idea where a good restaurant was in the Market Center area. I googled several restaurants and their websites were not very helpful. All flash design, but either no menu, or description.
After calling several of those restaurants, none of them had a Cajun Roll, (Crawfish or Louisiana roll.)
I found Sushi on McKinney on City search, no website, but I figure I would give them a call. They have a cajun roll, even customzed it for me. By the time I got there- (within 15minutes) my to go order was ready waiting on me at the bar.
Packaged/ presented nicely with wasabe and ginger. I just ordered 1 roll, and I received 10 nice sized pieces. Everything was fresh, and custom made to order.
The Cajun roll was only $6 something plus tax, so its definitely worth the money and quality. The staff was very friendly for the short time I was there.
I would definitely recommend them to someone else, and hope to dine in there in the future with my sweetie.
Pros: Fast friendly service, plenty of parking on the side and behind restaurant

I'm not sure how this place could possibly get bad reviews. It's one of those kind of "hole in the wall" types of places, that once you've found it, you don't know how you survived before that! The staff is sooo friendly. They are very accommodating and make me feel at home each time I come in. My glasses are always refilled before I even notice they are low! I come here a lot, so I know the service is consistent. The rolls are delicious, super fresh and CHEAP for the quality. My favorites are the sea eel, robb roll, mckinney roll and the devil rolls. The decor is a little outdated, but I find it charming that they let their food speak for itself, without feeling the need to distract you with lots of modern lighting and pretentious music. Perfect place to grab some dinner with friends before a night out.
Pros: cheap, fresh, great service, fast, casual
Cons: ambience

I was very disappointed because I was hoping Sushi on McKinney could become one of my regular hangouts. However, the edamame was cold, off-color, dripping wet, and topped with table salt. The sushi was chewy and fishy. The service was lousy. It was like pulling teeth just to get a refill of water. The ambience was reminiscent of the 1908s with splashes of pink, purple, and teal. It was dimly-lit, but not in the "romantic" sense--more in the "half the lightbulbs in the fixtures were burned out" sort of way. And, the place just felt unclean. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I'm not at all a picky diner, but this experience definitely ranks in my top ten worst dining experiences ever.

I'm not one to review a restaurant online but I have to say that Sushi on Mckinney is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!!!!!! I'm not a fool for trendy decor but come on, put a little effort into it guys! It looks like the 80's threw up all over the place. Not to mention the luke-warm rolls that fell apart when I tried to pick them up. Best spicy tuna roll in town??? Wha?? Huh??? You people obviously need to get out more. I have driven by this place so many times and wanted to stop in and when I finally did I was so dissapointed that I stopped at a good sushi restaurant on the way home just to get the bad sushi taste out of my mouth. I'm all for local restaurants and hate to "Sushi-bash" but I can't get over how absolutey pathetic our meal was. Sticky menus, sticky tables, dirty blue carpet coupled with ghastly food do not make for fun dining. Sorry guys, I'm just being honest.
Pros: None
Cons: Everything

It seems like there are so many trendy Dallas sushi restaurants that spend so much money on the decor that they neglect the food. Sushi on McKinney is defineitely not one of these. I have never had trouble getting a table and the staff is fantastic. They have one of the best spicy tuna rolls in town and you have to get the pressed sushi. Food comes out as prepared, so don't be surprised if the timing of your party's order is different.

I read the review that the prices are cheap. Cheap sushi is a scary thing and I don't think I want to eat old sushi. If you are to cheap to pay for fresh sushi you must be looking for food poisoning!

This is my favorite destination. You can get sushi here that you can't get anywhere else and it is always wonderful! The spicey tuna rolls are made with hot sesame oil--I must eat at least one every time. The marinated salmon is a house specialty and, trust me, IT IS SPECIAL! I order marinated salmon sashimi without fail. The chefs are all friendly and lots of fun and are happy to make anything special you request. My husband and I eat here as often as possible. We drive 11 miles to get to the restaurant and there are several excellent sushi bars near our home. My one vice in life is Sushi on McKinney. I just can't get enough! You've got to try it....tell them Cathy sent you!!
Pros: It's so good I want to eat here every single day!
Cons: no cons!

This is where I go. It's easy to get a seat. The service is good. And the food is conistent. This is actually the only place that I was ever told that I was ordering too much. My lunch companion and I assured the waitress that we would be able to handle it. And we did!
Try the Ahi Special, it's a tuna sushi dish that is served in a parfait glass and looks like a great big tuna sundae! Soooo very good and it's fun to be served such a cute dish. Afterall, part of the fun of sushi is seeing what kind of cute dishes the other diners are being served! The chicken teriyaki plates are really good, too. Espeically if you get the one with tempura, though the California roll is better if you order it seperately. The one they use as sides on the plate/box dinners is different from the roll you order.
The decor is almost laughably "Miami Vice". But, it is cute and comfortable. I like to have the sake, I believe it's called Masu or Maso, but it's the higher priced sake that is served cold. The pour the sake into a box that is sitting in a dish. In a traditional show of generosity, the sake is poured until the box is over-running and filling the dish it is sitting in. It's kind of messy. But, again, I just love cute!
Go to Sushi on McKinney. They are nice people. And it's so 80's Dallas.
Pros: Great list of special rolls with an explanation of ingredients at each table.
Cons: Parking can be a little tight.
