What happened to this place? Never went that often, but when I did, I always enjoyed it. It was kinda quirky, the service was unreliable, but the food and drinks were good and always thought it was perfect for a date...
Went not too long ago with 3 friends on a week night. We walked in, hardly anyone there...we stood @ the front door and waited..and waited...and waited while one waitress stood within eyesite of us, but totally ignored us....while a waiter stood @ the bar talking to two bar patrons about what music he was going to play next.....LOUDLY over the sound system.
Finally, got sat....by the waitress that ignored us....then she walked away and proceeded to ignore us again for about 5 minutes....finally the waiter/DJ (?) came over and asked us if we'd been waited on? We said "no"...he proceeded to apologize and said "Sorry, she don't know the F*CK what she is doin'." This was the first of many times he used the F-bomb while "serving" us....
Did I mention they were playing gangster rap over the sound system? With lots of f-bombs and degrading lyrics pertaining to women.....LOUDLY.
It got to the point where I didn't even want to wait for the food...but my friends talked me into staying.
Big mistake. All of us failed to finish our sushi for various reasons but basically we all sorta agreed it wasn't as good as it use to be and I also had a side of vegetable fried rice that tasted like someone had poured an entire box of salt into the mix.
We left and 3 of the 4 of us swore we'd never go back and to my knowledge we haven't.
NOW, they've started having a "live" band on weekends and since I live across the street @ the Argyle, we're being bombarded with LOUD thumping music til @ least midnight. Apparently the Management either isn't aware there is a noise ordinance in the City of Dallas, or they just don't care....and I think the latter is the case, since apparently they don't care about who they hire, what they serve or what sort of impression they're leaving people with....from what I've heard, they're looking to attract a "hip young" crowd.....if "hip and young" also means "loud, obnoxious, lewd and of poor citizenship skills"...well, they've nailed it.
Ugh. Go away. Please.
Pros: It's next door to Green Papaya
Cons: Staff, it's new "gangster" attitude...

The sushi is AMAZING here, and Sapporo is one of my favorite restaurants. Once, just walking in, the man at the bar approached me and offered me a 15% discount because I am a regular customer.
Great service, atmosphere, food.
Mainly empty, and you can choose your own table.
Just perfect
Pros: Complimentary valet service (great for Uptown)
Cons: The emptiness kind of makes you wonder how they stay in business and why no one is there

The sushi here is pretty good and fairly reasonably priced. The restaurant never seems to be packed (although I've heard it is when they have karaoke). There isn't really much of a scene here, the decor is plain with white tablecloths. It is a good place to go when you are looking for something low key, don't want to dress up, or don't want to wait for a table. It is always easy to talk since it is so quiet, and I have always been happy with the food (which I was initially nervous about at Sushi Sapporo since sushi often is not fresh when a restaurant is empty).
Pros: Good sushi, no wait, quick service
Cons: If you are looking for a "fun" place to go, you won't find it here.

So after reading a couple review of the new set up of this place I was a tad skeptical. I have been going to Sapporo weekly for over a year now and after a week long sadness of thinking the place closed down, I am happy to say that is not true. The lunch buffet or all-you-eat from the menu is still a great deal. For only 20 bucks you get to choose from all items on the previous buffet plus a lot more. You can now get edamame plus all the usual sides and now you can order any roll from there menu. I still recommend this place and will continue to go there weekly, check it out!!

Went there for lunch today and was totally disappointed. I ordered fried rice (plain fried rice w/ no meat) and was charged $23. The vegetables in the rice were obviously from a bag of frozen veggies (who puts sweet kernal corn in fried rice). I thought lunch special usually ment cheaper than normal not more expensive. I tried to flag down a waittress so I can ask about this, but since I was alone they really didn't notice me. I had to go back to work and so I just signed the receipt and left. Funny thing is, they noticed when I left and all the staff said bye. I'm never going back there.

We used to love this place when they had the lunch buffett. It was fast, inexpensive and enjoyable. Today under new management we were highly surprised to find the buffett gone, the price increased, and we were actually told if we didn't "eat every bite on our plate" that we would be charged full price not the lunch price. Ridiculous. You felt like you were under pressure to eat everything and you would be punished if you didn't. We will not return and according to those sitting around us, neither will they. This place is about to loose 99% of its lunch crowd due to the changes. We were also 30 minutes late getting back to work because it took so long to get our order.

Me and my best friend walked in today to find our beautiful SUSHI BUFFET WAS NO MO!! It's now sit down and pick out all you can eat. However thank goodness our waitress explained it, but it's only CERTAIN things on the all you can eat menu. AND it went from $15.95 to $19.95! So we order what we THINK we want and about 10 min she comes back and says we've ordered too much? We r like huh? Its all you can eat? She goes yes, but if you order, we make and you not eat, we charge you FULL price. I'm like what? I felt like the sushi natzi was standing over us thru the whole experience...and the beauty of the buffet was it was QUICK! We got there at 12:40, had to take our orders ourselves to the chefs, ask for our soup (that comes with) and it also took FOREVER!!! We got to work at 2:00! Even a guy behind us in line was complaining about how the "new" system SUCKS....takes way too long. Bring back our buffet!
Pros: the sushi buffet was most definitely a PRO....
Cons: No more sushi buffet!

I am only commenting on the buffet. I tried it because I have heard good things about this restaurant. I was impressed but no completely sold. As usual with most sushi places that have a buffet the items on the buffet are not the pick of the menu. There was a good variety of maybe 6-8 different roles. There was also salad, egg rolls and miso soup. However I did look at the regular menu which is extensive and impressive so I will go back to try a few things off of it. Overall the meal was good. I will definitely go back. If you try the buffet be prepared to spend 15 with tax and no drink.....

Sapporo's atmosphere is absolutely delightful. Their sushi is one of my top choices for the DFW area. If you are looking for an elegant sushi restaurant close to Downtown Dallas Sapporo's is a great spot. Also, you can sit at the bar and watch them make sushi or just sit at a regular bar and watch some TV which creates an entire different experience.
