When purchasing a new car if you have the time you will shop around to get the best deal. You will take an offer from one dealership and give it to another to see if they can match or do better. That is a common practice. My husband and I called around quite a few dealerships in Texas to try and get the best deal for a new 2010 Honda Pilot. We were also looking for the best trade-in offer for our current vehicle. We had a few offers from some places and just wanted to see if Rusty Wallis could match it or give us a better offer. The first few initial emails I received from Terry Godoy at Rusty Wallis were not very informative. He was very short with me which I thought was odd. My husband spoke with Terry and when my husband told him about an offer we received from another dealership he (Terry) told us we were being lied to and that that dealership would never give us that price we wanted. Terry proceeded to call my husband and leave very rude voice mail messages. I don't understand why someone would act that way if they really wanted to sell a car. Obviously we will NOT be purchasing our new Pilot from Rusty Wallis nor will we EVER purchase a vehicle from them!! I highly encourage anyone who is in the market for a new Honda to NOT PURCHASE IT FROM RUSTY WALLIS!!!!!!!!!
Pros: NONE
Cons: Rude, rude, rude salesperson - Terry Godoy

I purchased a 2009 Certified Pre-Owned Honda Civic Hybrid from Rusty Wallis Honda on 3/14/2009. I was buying from out-of-state, so I relied on my sales manager over the phone for all of my information. As I'd be making a rather long trip to pick up the car, I wanted to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. One of my biggest concerns was that I did NOT want a car that had ever been wrecked or had any damage to it what-so-ever. I was assured up and down by my sales manager that the car had never been wrecked and was in perfect shape. They even provided a CarFAX report showing that the car had never been wrecked. I flew down, picked the car up, and was quite happy with it... for a short while.
Fast forward to May... I take my new Civic Hybrid to my local shop to have them do some warranty work on the car to fix some moisture in the driver's side tail light. I thought it was a no-brainer warranty issue. I had no idea what I was about to discover about my "never wrecked" vehicle!!! My local dealership informed me that it was not warranty work as the car had been wrecked, was severely leaking water, and had been improperly rebuilt! Thankfully, my local dealership, Joe Marina, worked exceptionally hard to help me out and they got Honda to cover the repair work to fix the car. Unfortunately, this meant spending 1+ week in the repair shop
While all of this was going on, I contacted Rusty Wallis about this and they assured me again that the car had never been wrecked and that they'd "get to the bottom of it." Later that day, my local dealership called me to tell me that Rusty Wallis had contacted them and told them that yes, in fact the car HAD been wrecked and that they DID know about it all along!!!!
I've tried returning the car to them or getting Rusty Wallis to buy it back, but they offered me either $180 for my troubles, or $2000 less than I paid for it to take it back! My other alternative was to trade my car in for a brand new one that they were so graciously willing to sell me for an additional $5000+!!!!!! I was actively LIED to by Rusty Wallis and they aren't willing to do a darn thing about it. AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COSTS. THEY WILL LIE TO YOU TO MAKE A SALE!!!!!!!!!
Pros: Finance dept. works hard for your business
Cons: Complete and utter dishonesty of their sales department.

Rusty Wallis Honda recently sold my elderly father a certified pre-owned Honda. During the sales negotiation, my father asked if the car had ever been in a wreck, and the sales person told him "no" and presented him with a clean CarFax report.
Less than two weeks from purchase, recurring problems with the car caused us to learn that the car had been in at least one major accident sustaining significant damage (resulting in mechanical problems). So - within a few days of purchasing the car, we returned to the dealer for a refund, and the dealer refused. The dealer first tried to convince us that the car had not really been wrecked. Then they later claimed that there is no state law in Texas that requires the dealer to disclose the fact that the car has been previously wrecked (even if the consumer asks). They also claimed that they did not know that the car had been previously wrecked (even though the dealer obtained it on trade-in, and subsequently performed the Honda 150 point inspection to designate it as a "certified pre-owned" Honda).
Finally (after much negotiation), they offered to take the car back again on trade - as long as my father didn't mind taking a $2,400 loss on the trade, after owning the car for only two weeks (of which 6 days was spent in their shop awaiting repairs).
Later, through TxDOT we tracked down the car's previous owners and found the one that wrecked the vehicle. She said that she totaled the car near Austin. However, much to her surprise, Allstate insisted on repairing her 2003 Honda Civic to the tune of $11,000+ (I have a copy of the invoice).
According to an investigator at TxDOT (Dealer Enforcement Division), Allstate actually spent closer to $15,000 on the repairs. He also said that they have had trouble with insurance companies doing this recently. In addition, he said that Rusty Wallis Honda has had a lot of complaints and that they are apparently pretty bad characters. He initiated an investigation of the dealership as a result of our complaint (with no results pursuant to our case).
The prior owner who wrecked the car (also elderly, and in poor health) said that Rusty Wallis Honda ripped her off on the trade in as well. She was very angry at them. She said that when she traded in the car, the Rusty Wallis sales staff pressured her and would not let her leave until she did the deal. They also made false claims of high-mileage (145,000 miles), no AC, and standard transmission, in order to give her a lower Kelley blue-book trade-in value, and that they knew that the car had been wrecked. She said that they wore her out and that she finally relented and did the deal with them just so she could get it over with and finally go home.
My advice: don't deal with Rusty Wallis Honda because they are dishonest.
If you buy a used Honda from another dealer, don't pay extra for a "certified pre-owned" Honda, because it doesn't mean SQUAT.
CarFax is only a stating point and cannot be trusted 100% (especially when insurance companies and dealers are being dishonest). Have YOUR personal mechanic check out the car first before you buy. If the dealer objects to that idea back out of the deal and get out fast.
Pros: Fool me once...?
Cons: No honesty. No integrity

I did read all of the reviews on this website and although the sales-people are very friendly, nice, courteous, no hassle...fair people...I feel like I was taken advantage by Rusty Wallis Honda. I am 21 now, 20 years old at the time, and I wanted a new car. I have heard for years that Honda's will drive until the wheels fall off, so thats what I wanted. I went in, leased a 2008 Honda Civic and I fell in love with this car! Strangely enough, I thought that usually when you lease a vehicle they want an outrageous amount of money put down...not in my case...I just had to pay the first months car payment up front. So a few months after buying this car, I get a letter from my insurance company saying that I needed to up my coverage, because it requires I have a certain amount. No problem. Until I got my bill. Not only have I NEVER been in a car wreck, or had a ticket in my life...but my insurance was jumping from $240 a month to $580 per month!!!! And that was actually the cheapest insurance I could find. I know, I know, I am young, but at the same time, should my insurance really jump that much??? Needless to say, my car is getting repossessed because I cannot afford an apt, my car and my insurance that is more than my apartment itself! Oh well...I'll let you know if I have different feelings about Rusty Wallis in 7 years.

We bought a new Honda CR-V EX-L from Rusty Wallis Honda on Oct. 31, 2008. It was our first Honda, and we had a great experience. During the entire process, we never felt any pressure and were able to discuss and make our own decisions. We dreaded the financial part of the deal because in the past, dealerships have pressured us to buy the extended warranty and other items they had for sale and didn't want to accept no for an answer. It was the most painless experience we have had buying a new vehicle in many years. We were very impressed with the organization and knowledge of the people at Rusty Wallis Honda. We will do business with them again and recommend them to others.

I purchased a 2009 Honda Accord EX-L from Rusty Wallis Honda on 10/16/2008. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences that I have had when purchasing a new car. Mr. Conroy, who you recommended that I contact first at Rusty Wallis, was very pleasant, got me entered into their system, and then had Mr. Rob Downing assist me the rest of the way.
Mr. Downing listened to what I was looking for and was a pleasure to work with. He quickly located the correct model of EX-L and in the right color scheme so we could go for a test drive. He was very knowledgeable, was able to answer my questions, treated me as a
person, and work hard to make sure that I was happy.
Once it was time to finalize the financing, Mr. Downing introduced me to Mr. Brad Mills. Mr. Mills also made me feel at ease, treated me as a person, explained in sufficient and understandable detail the financing, extended warranty options, anti-theft options, Tires-for-Life option, and also got to know my driving habits to
suggest the best options for me.
As I stated above, the overall process and experience was outstanding. If I am still in the DFW area and I need to purchase another new Honda, I will definitely return to Rusty Wallis. I would also recommend their dealership to others in a heart beat.

I purchased a 2007 Honda CivicSI from Rusty Wallis Honda in May 2008. This car still had the original Honda warranty. I asked the salesman about the tires -- wanting to make sure I was not going to have to purchase tires. He told me, twice, that they put the tires and wheels on to make sure it was at Honda spec and that the wheels just looked better. 1 week after purchase, one front tire was ruined hitting a pothole -- the wheel was cracked, too. I returned it, thinking there was a new tire warranty. I'm told that I have to purchase two tires because they don't make them anymore. So, they were going to order and give me this great price. Meanwhile the other front tire was ruined & wheel. So, I purchase two Honda wheels & tires for $758.00. On July 25th, my daughter has a blowout on LBJ in a rear tire. I take the car to NTB, where I learn that the tires on the car are 2 SIZES TOO SMALL; and stretch across the wheel causing steering problems; ALSO Rusty Wallis had put the front tires on wrong, which is not only a safety issue but could ruin the transmission in the car! So, I purchase two rear tires at NTB -- today (7/28) I'm trying to get in touch with the GM to see what to do. I believe they owe me for two wheels and 6 tires after the Lie the Salesman told me; and what service did. The front wheels wouldn't have cracked hitting a pothole if the tires had not been too thin & too narrow installed by Rusty Wallis. I will update this blog as soon as the GM returns my call.

Hi All -
I'm an ex-David McDavid Honda buyer like Jim P. I had bought/fought for a HONDA Element from them in 2003. After going through 3 financing people, having other honda dealerships compete, and being treated poorly for 30 days, I got exactly what I wanted - under invoice at a reasonable rate (9.94% APR). I expected my next car purchase to be the same dance.
--
I received a silly 'Special Event' mailer from McDavid 2 weeks ago. Apparently they NEEDED to stock up on my year and model and wanted me to come to an invitation only event and make me an offer. I googled this scenario to see if anyone had fallen for it and instead -- I found shining reviews of Rusty Wallis.
My wife has a VW Golf and we are expecting in March. Rusty Wallis specializes in VWs and Hondas - perfect!
I browsed through their online inventory and found a Pilot that my wife and I loved and on a whim, I e-mailed them about my crazy idea --
1. Trade in the VW Golf
2. Roll the remainer of my HONDA Element loan into a new loan for the Pilot
I received a telephone call no more than 5 minutes later (from the VW Dealership - as I e-mailed them) from Jeff Howard. Jeff thought my idea was great and said that Rusty Wallis does deals like that all of the time.
My wife and I drove from Keller to Garland and arrived at about 6pm. We met Jeff, who was every bit as charming in person as he was on the phone -- he welcomed us and transferred us to a salesman in the used HONDA lot -- I was disappointed that he wouldn't be helping -- however, we were truly placed in good hands.
We were helped by Chris Macintosh. There was no wheeling and dealing -- We found a 2004 HONDA Pilot EXL for $19,800 -- valued by KBB.com at $25,000.
Macintosh was patient, polite, and while I was predisposed to distrust and use any trick that I needed, he gave us no reason to.
They bought our 2004 VW Golf for $7,000

After a terrible experience with one of their competitors in Iring, David McDavid, we strolled into Rusty Wallis. My wife and I were planning to walk in, negotiate a price, and come back later that evening after we ate some dinner to finish the paperwork. When we were happy with the price, we told them we'd be back, and to our surprise, the General Manager pulled money out of his own pocket and asked one of the guys sitting around to go get us anything we wanted- totally unexpected.
One thing led to another, and we were running short on time. It was pushing 9:00 PM, and we had a 3 hour drive ahead of us. At this point, my pregnant wife was extremely uncomfortable and we were beginning to entertain thoughts of staying the night. Not a minute later, the GM (Mr. Conroy) suggested that we stay the night at a nearby hotel at THEIR EXPENSE. Not only that, but they took the price of our one-way rental car from Abilene off the price of the car, and took the car back for us the next day so we wouldn't have to.
Their customer service is awesome. I never expected this kind of treatment from a Honda dealer- maybe Mercedes or Land Rover, but certainly not Honda. We were buying a $20k car and they treated us like we were spending $80K.
IF YOU NEED A HONDA, BUY FROM THESE GUYS!!!
