The food was cold over cooked and over thought. The servers had attitude as if they were the best restaurant in Dallas and they are not in the top 100
Pros: Atmosphere
Cons: everything else

We were looking forward to our night out. Dakotas Steakhouse Steaks ruined that. The service and atmosphere were excellent but that was it. The steaks were terrble. My wife and I had the filet and new york strip medium well. They came out "well done" aka charred on outside and still mooing on inside. Do not recommend this restaurant.
Pros: service and atmosphere
Cons: highly overpriced steaks!!!!!

Oh my God, this place is awesome, best steak I have ever tried. Tremendous service, great atmosphere, fountain on the patio, what more can you ask for. I had the bone-in NY strip, first time I had a dry aged steak, very impressive. My wife had the bone-in filet, most flavorful filet we have ever had, cooked perfect. The steaks come ala carte, but the sides are huge, more mashed potatoes and cream spinach than we could ever think of eating. Overall, great experience and we will be going back, next time we will save room for dessert.

My husband and I went to Dakota for a romantic dinner for our first wedding anniversary and were incredibly disappointed. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were seated right away. We then sat for 20 minutes before we were waited on, and that was only after we had requested a server TWICE. When we were assigned a server he didn't tell us the specials, did mention that he knew nothing about wine, and sweated profusely through the service. At no point did anyone come over and apologize for the fact that we waited to order drinks while other tables seated after us received their first course. The beef was excellent however; our side order of asparagus was inedible. The stalks were almost 3/4" thick which is too old to be served at any restaurant, let alone a high end steakhouse.
I cannot explain how disappointed we were after looking forward to a great anniversary dinner. Despite the ambience of the outdoor dining area we wouldn't consider visiting Dakota again.
Pros: Excellent beef
Cons: Terrible service, terrible sides

My husband and I decided to head out and enjoy a new place to eat this weekend. While heading to our hotel, we saw the elevator with Dakota's steakhouse. We called and were able to get in that
night! The place is beautiful and the patio on the lower level looking up to the city street is fantastic. We had good service and the food was worth it. For all you get, the prices for such a nice steakhouse are resonable. I promise, you will enjoy the dinner.

This is an excellent steakhouse that is located below street level on Akard. There is a valet station and an elevator that takes you below the street to the restaurant. The food is excellent and the steaks are on par with Del Frisco, Three Forks, etc. It is business casual to dressy, and it is moderately pricey. Dinner for two is above $80 before drinks and tips, but the food, service and atmosphere is worth it. It located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas.

A brief review of the food offerings at Dakota?s Steakhouse?
After handing over the keys for the complimentary valet parking, my friends and I took the elevator down to Dakota?s Steakhouse for our Restaurant Week Dining Experience in August. We entered the restaurant and were shown to a very nice table near the back. Our waiter was very attentive and seemed to be glad we were there. We ordered our drinks and some appetizers, veal meatballs and grilled shrimp cocktail with a jalapeno cream cheese garnish. Both were quite tasty, but we were all anticipating the next course, the much acclaimed crab fennel bisque. Unbelievable! Huge chunks of sweet Dungeness crab swam in the creamy soup with micro greens on top and a swirl of lobster oil. For our entrees, one of my friends ordered the airline chicken while my other friend and I both ordered the 40 day dry-aged rib eye. All were quite tender and flavorful, needing no accompaniment. the chicken came with a shitake mushroom omlet and carmelized onions and the steaks were served with mashed potatoes and two grilled asparagus spears wrapped in Prosciutto. The waiter returned to remove the plates and as we groaned in contentment while waiting for dessert, I found my mind wandering again to the soup and thought to myself, how much would I have to pay the chef to part with the recipe? If he did, could I do it justice? Would I be willing to share?ever? Somehow, I don?t think I have quite enough funds for that. Dessert arrived, two chocolate cupcakes and a tres leche banana bread pudding. My friend was not overly thrilled with her bread pudding?s texture ? probably due to the tres leche part. But overall, a most delicious evening.
Again, the service was impeccable and I continue to be amused with the constant bringing of the silverware ? what can I say, country came to town.
I must discover how to make that soup?I am sure it was completely healthy *wink* *wink*.

Got a table at the last minute but received top most service. Our hostess and waiter were great and the steaks were cooked to perfection. Lovely evening all the way around!
