Need I say more! We were told by the staff that the food is prepared with love and let me tell you...it certainly makes all the difference. I am convinced their food comes straight from the heavens. It not only tastes incredible every single time; it also looks fabulous. The soup is amazing. Make sure you put the tahini sauce on your veggies, it is hidden behind the soup crock. I eat the salad for pre-dessert it is so tasty. The tamarind tea is excellent and refreshing, the cinnamon/raisin bread is almost too much to handle...the halva is a party in your mouth! Sit in the atrium if the weather permits for the ultimate experience. Stop by the shop and take a look at the temple when you're done. Don't be afraid to ask questions, everyone is super nice and informative...not pushy.
Pros: Fresh, delicious, serene atmosphere, best price in town!
Cons: Bit of a Drive, Parking on Ocassion

This is my favourite vegetarian restaurant in Dallas. It offers great varies of preparations- mostly Indian cuisines with International entrees - from Italian to Chinese. Great ambiance, best patio seating - it's very romantic at night indeed! I took a lot of friends to Kalachandji's and everyone loves it even they are not vegetarians.

If you're looking for healthful cuisine, this is the place for you. It helps if you don't require meat at every meal. They do a sort of Indian vegetarian cuisine--not a precise rendering, but fairly close. I would say their food is much lighter than typical Indian cuisine. The main entree of the day was a nut loaf that could have been better. Also, I was a little disappointed with the salad bar--a few interesting prepared salads would have been nice, instead of just a whole lot of plain raw stuff. And they probably should consult the neighborhood taqueria to learn how to make the tamarind drink. Theirs tasted funny, like the tamarind came out of a can, or they let it ferment. But at $8 for lunch, it was a pretty good deal.

I was in Dallas for business and decided to give Kalchandji's a try, laughing to myself about the apparent need for so many Indian-themed restaurants include "Palace" or "Taj Mahal" or somesuch in their names. Little did I suspect Kalachandji's actually IS a palace!! The restaurant is attached to a Hari Krishna temple and community center - there's even a gift shop where you can purchase minor religious items! The food was great and super cheap. Best of all is the courtyard other reviewers have recommended. I enjoyed a lovely, inexpensive meal outside on a 50 degree Dallas night in January - thanks to the heaters Kalanchandji's has installed over its outdoor seating. A fountain and uplit live oak make the courtyard a wonderful surprise. An unusual and rewarding experience I did not expect to have during a mid-week stay in Dallas. Will definitely recommend to others!
Pros: Value, unusual venue, good food
Cons: Buffet is pretty basic in presentation - very clean but basic so don't expect anything fancy!

For a vegetarian and part time vegan ! this is an amazing place. First the ambience is awesome, especially on a sunny day when you can sit in the courtyard. Lunch and Dinner buffets, which are not very common. Extremely reasonable rates, great service. I like to meditate there for lil bit in the palace, and then have a refreshing meal.
The food has an Indian leaning.. but they have vegetarian selections from around the world (lasagna, enchiladas, tofu barbeque, tofu sticks (my favorite) etc.)... They have an excellent salad bar and I often times find myself craving just that.. Great friendly attitude and service.. I have heard they have a cooking class too... need to check it out..
Its a little off of the regular route, but once you get there you will not believe you are close to downtown Dallas.. ITs about a 10 minute drive from white rock lake (south on Garland, which becomes E Grand).
Refreshing, clean, friendly place, with GREAT food. Highly recommended.
Pros: Great food, great service, great ambience.
Cons: Little off the path,

Old favorite among Dallas vegetarians. Wonderful atmosphere. Come on a Sunday night for the $7.00 all-you-can-eat buffet and listen to the chanting in the temple next door. Or come during the week for a meal which includes soup, buffet, salad and desert for $10.00. Sit outside under the tree and listen to the bubbling fountain. Great place to meet up with a group of friends for an exotic, yet comfortable feast. Closed on Mondays.
