I have shopped at Luke's for over 10 years for the great running shoes and service. The store is no longer close to my home, but I keep coming back. I was just online to get store hours. I noticed the last review complaining about they carry your shoes downstairs. Yes, they carry my shoes down...but I never thought to be offended. I am a white middle aged professional woman. I guess I'm not as easily offended.

I shopped at Luke's probably 4-5 times, but the last few times I have left the store angry. When I have selected my shoes upstairs, certain salesmen want to carry them downstairs for you. Excuse me? This is not a courtesy, and it is so obviously racist. They don't do it with all their customers because I have made it a point to observe it. And the African-American salesperson who assisted me before did not do that. If you say you don't need their help, they just send another employee behind you to check out the transaction. One salesperson came down and waited while I shopped for other items until I completed the transation before he went back upstairs. Please. It is an insult to the intelligence of this 50+ year old, educated, employed, law-abiding, tax-paying citizen to have this treatment. And I don't need to hear from the cashier when I pay cash that We took all your money, didn't we? You think so? NOT EVEN!! Come on people!! Cut the crap!!! My last time in Luke's.

Luke's Locker is the store for runners and real runners. I go there to get the world's best socks for running. You can't find them anywhere else but Luke's or on-line. The staff knows running and all you have to do it tell them how and how often you run and they can suggest the right shoe and socks. They also have shirts, shorts, etc for running. I got a great strap for my sunglasses there too. The prices are a little high but quality is number one here.

If you run more than three to four times a week- go to Luke's Locker. I was looking for a pair of shoes to run a marathon in and was told to go to Luke's Locker. I was surprised at all the wonderful gear that they had for runners. I got more than shoes- I got a shirt and running shorts and the BEST running socks I have ever had. The prices are a little high but are in line with the upper scale sports and athletic apparel shops. The staff is really helpful and knows a lot about shoes and running.
