I had really high hopes for BottleRock. I wandered in one Saturday afternoon and decided to try out their wine tasting, which was $10. The woman who was pouring everyone's tastes came by and gave me my first wine. When I asked her a few questions about the wine, she read me what was on the label. I could have done that myself.
I was amused to see that she was also drinking as she worked, but my amusement turned to annoyance when I realized she seemed to have forgotten about me. After twenty minutes I was able to flag someone down to send her over to me with the next taste.
Since the woman was busy drinking, I asked another man, who apparently was working a different part of the room, to pour for us. It took me over an hour to get all 4 wines tasted because it was so difficult to get any service, and the place wasn't even busy. The only thing that was busy was the woman, who was too busy drinking!
I was so disgusted that I left a quarter for a tip.
If you do go here, your best bet is to just buy a bottle of wine so you won't have to depend on the staff to help you out any further.

This is my favorite Italian Cafe in West Los Angeles. The place has recently gotten larger so it can accommodate more people and this is a great development. I love their Pasta Piselli, which is light, but also enough food that you can take home leftovers. The prices here are very reasonable and everything here tastes good from the entrees to the desserts. The one thing here is that you may have a long wait, but it is well worth it. The servers are so funny and nice and the food is great.

I don't write reviews on sites, whether ive had the best or worst food or service. i felt compelled to write this review, however, because JR's is excellent. the meat is fresh and slow-cooked to perfection. the spicy sauce is hotter than hell, but they put it on the side. they have sweet tea and excellent desserts. for other restaurants which have glowing reviews that drop the names of managers or the line cooks, it is obvious that the management writes the reviews themselves. But for J Rs, the hype is real. try it.

What's not to love...especially love the chicken strips and vegetable skewers. It can sometimes take a while to get your food, but that's only because the strips are made to order. Worth the wait for sure!
Pros: Veggy skewers and biscuits dipped in honey.
Cons: None

In the heart of Culver City sits the most popular breakfast spot for miles. It's a no frills no B.S. kinda joint where the waitress where tight jeans and bring ya 40 oz. cups of ice tea. Their salads are head lettuce or romaine, none of the fancy stuff here, but the service is fast and good. You'll need to bring the green stuff, as that's all they'll accept, no credit. For a coffee treat, get the one with cocoa and whipped cream. They have a million sandwiches with curly fries as an option, (now that's a diner!) and they'll always add a special request without making ya feel stupid. The owner's name is Michelle and she'll be there too, waiting on table's with the rest of the girls.
Closes at 3p.

This is one of the best sushi restaurants in the city in my opinion. We eat here a couple of times a week and love it. Highly recommend trying some of the unusual specials that Toshi offers. This place is named after the head sushi chef and owner's little daughter and his care and dedication shows in everything he does.
Enjoy!
Pros: Amazingly fresh fish with interesting special sushi combinations
Cons: none that I can think of

This place is an awesome dive bar to hang out in on a nightly basis if you can. The staff is always friendly if you are respectful and friendly too. The food is great for it being bar food and the portions are HUGE, this place does not promote itself as a 5 star restaurant so expect good BAR food and that's what you'll get. As for those saying there is some kind of "gambling" going on Tuesday nights it's actually a really fun $100 raffle; you put your name in a book and every Tuesday night they pick a name, you have to be there to claim the price or your name is posted up as a looser and the $100 goes into the next week's raffle, meaning the following week it'll be $200, I think the biggest it ever got was just over a grand. As for those saying Mehaul is rude or obnoxious you could not be more wrong, he is super friendly and cares about the environment in his bar, so if you are ruining the vibe for everyone by being an a-hole of course he's going to treat you the same way. If you come expecting a super trendy place forget it, this place is down to earth and relaxed which is why I love it. I come here in jeans and T with some old converse on expecting to have a good time with friends, if i want to get bothered by some drunk a-holes I'll go to Hollywood. As for those upset about being hurried out of the bar when it's closing time, DUH! It's CLOSING time which means these ppl still need to clean up for an hour or more before heading home. I love this place and I bring all of my out of town friends here, I'd recommend it to EVERYONE in an instant. (PS I'm 24 and the crowd is a little older but that's why it's such a chill place to hang out in)
Pros: the vibe, cheap drinks, great selection of international beers, smoking patio
Cons: slow service on busy nights

i went a few times based on glowing reviews from other sites and was not disappointed. la dijonnaise is a great little bistro with a friendly staff and great food. i wasn't expecting too much, but the portions were large and the quality was first rate. the desserts behind the glass case were so tempting, that even though we were all full from our meals, we had to try a few. but while i like this place a lot, the seating is a bit cramped. you're going to be pretty much elbow to elbow with other patrons so a quiet romantic dinner isn't as feasible.
