i went a few times based on glowing reviews from other sites and was not disappointed. la dijonnaise is a great little bistro with a friendly staff and great food. i wasn't expecting too much, but the portions were large and the quality was first rate. the desserts behind the glass case were so tempting, that even though we were all full from our meals, we had to try a few. but while i like this place a lot, the seating is a bit cramped. you're going to be pretty much elbow to elbow with other patrons so a quiet romantic dinner isn't as feasible.

I don't eat donuts either but eased up on that rule after discovering Don's on Washington & Wade (same parking lot as the 99 Cent store). This is one of those little hole-in-the-wall places that gives character to a neighborhood, and while the storefront may not be attractive -- the product and owner are top-notch. Don is as friendly as can be, and the chocolate glazed donuts and "Long Don" twists can't be beat. One note: this is a takeout stand only; there's no place to sit inside. Check it out!

After seeing it on some TV show, I decided to try this out since I was in the area. Boy was that a big mistake. Being not familiar with the area, I had to circle around the huge block twice before I found this little place. When I finally got it, and tried it's famous strudel, I couldn't help but think what the big deal was. The filling in the apple and cranberry strudel was too tart, and it wasn't sweet enough despite the sprinking of powder sugar (needed a whole box of sugar). It was limp and had no crisp. Perhaps it's the authentic real deal, so I might just have bad taste but I'd never waste my time there again...I'd much rather go a few stores down and get some good chocolate cake at that chocolate-centered bakery I can't remember the name of.
